14 Portanto, Senhor, Ele mesmo vos dará um sinal: Eis que, uma virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho e deverá chamar seu nome de Emanuel.
2 E o Espírito do SENHOR repousará sobre ele. O espírito de sabedoria e entendimento, o espírito de conselho e poder, o espírito de conhecimento e de temor do SENHOR;
5 E a justiça será o cinto dos seus lombos, e a fidelidade à Verdade, o cinto dos seus rins.
2 O povo que. andava em trevas viu uma grande luz, e sobre os que habitavam na terra da sombra da morte resplandeceu a Luz.
6 Porque para nós um menino nos nasceu, para nós um filho foi dado. E o governo estará sobre seu ombro, e seu nome será chamado Maravilhoso, Conselheiro, O poderoso Deus, O Pai eterno, O Príncipe de Paz.
14. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
2. And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
5. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
2. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
6. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
SERMÃO DA LIÇÃO
14 E Jesus retornou para a Galileia no poder do Espírito,
16 E ele chegou a Nazaré, onde fora criado; e, segundo o seu costume, ele entrou na sinagoga no dia do shabat, e levantou-se para ler.
17 E ali foi-lhe entregue o livro do profeta Isaías. E, tendo aberto o livro, achou o lugar em que estava escrito:
18 O Espírito do Senhor está sobre mim, porque me ungiu para pregar o evangelho aos pobres; ele me enviou para curar aos quebrantados de coração, para pregar libertação aos cativos e restauração da vista aos cegos, e para pôr em liberdade os oprimidos,
20 E ele fechando o livro, o deu novamente ao ministro, e assentou-se. E os olhos de todos que estavam na sinagoga estavam fixos nele.
21 E ele começou a lhes dizer: Neste dia se cumpriu esta escritura em vossos ouvidos.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee:
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
2 E eis que lhe trouxeram um homem paralítico, deitado em um leito; e Jesus, vendo a fé deles, disse ao paralítico: Filho, tem bom ânimo, teus pecados são perdoados.
3 E eis que, alguns dos escribas disseram consigo: Este homem blasfema.
4 Mas Jesus, conhecendo-lhes os pensamentos, disse: Por que pensais mal em vossos corações?
5 Pois, o que é mais fácil, dizer: Os teus pecados são perdoados; ou dizer: Levanta-te e anda?
6 Mas, para que saibais que o Filho do homem tem poder sobre a terra para perdoar pecados (ele disse então ao paralítico): Levanta-te, toma o teu leito, e vai para tua casa.
7 E ele levantando-se, foi para sua casa.
8 Mas a multidão, vendo isso, maravilhava-se, e glorificaram a Deus, que dera tal poder aos homens.
2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
22 E eis que chegou um dos governantes da sinagoga, por nome Jairo, e, vendo-o, prostrou-se aos seus pés,
23 E rogava-lhe muito, dizendo: Minha filhinha jaz à beira da morte: Rogo-te, venhas e lhe imponhas as mãos, para que ela seja curada, e ela viverá.
24 E Jesus foi com ele,
35 ... Vieram alguns da casa do governante da sinagoga, a quem disseram: A tua filha está morta; por que ainda incomodas o Mestre?
36 Mas Jesus, tão logo ouviu essas palavras, disse ao governante da sinagoga: Não temas, crê somente.
38 E, tendo chegado à casa do governante da sinagoga, viu o alvoroço, e os que choravam e pranteavam muito.
39 E ele entrando, disse-lhes: Por que fazeis alvoroço e chorais? A menina não está morta, mas dorme.
40 E eles riam dele. Ele, porém, tendo feito sair a todos, tomou consigo o pai e a mãe da menina, e os que com ele estavam, e entrou onde a menina estava deitada.
41 E ele tomando a menina pela mão, disse-lhe: Talita cumi; que, traduzido, é: Menina, Eu te digo, levanta-te.
42 E imediatamente a menina se levantou, e andou, pois ela tinha doze anos. E eles assombraram-se com grande espanto.
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 And Jesus went with him;
35 …there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
27 As minhas ovelhas ouvem a minha voz, e Eu as conheço, e elas Me seguem;
28 e Eu lhes dou a vida eterna, e elas nunca hão de perecer, e nenhum homem as arrancará da minha mão.
29 Meu Pai, que as deu a mim, é maior do que todos; e nenhum homem pode arrancá-las da mão de meu Pai.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
27 E saiu Jesus, e os seus discípulos, para as aldeias de Cesareia de Filipe;
29 E ele lhes disse,... quem dizeis vós o que Eu sou? Respondeu Pedro, dizendo: Tu és o Cristo.
30 E ele lhes ordenou que não contassem a nenhum homem sobre ele.
31 E ele começou a ensinar-lhes que o Filho do homem deveria sofrer muitas coisas, e ser rejeitado pelos anciãos, e pelos principais sacerdotes e escribas, que fosse morto, e após três dias ressuscitar.
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi:
29 And he saith unto them, … whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
1 E, chegando a manhã, todos os principais sacerdotes e os anciãos do povo tomaram conselho contra Jesus, para o matarem.
2 E quando o amarraram, levaram-no embora,
35 E eles o crucificaram,
51 E eis que o véu do templo se rasgou em dois, de alto a baixo; e tremeu a terra, e fenderam-se as rochas;
52 e os sepulcros se abriram, e muitos corpos de santos que dormiam foram ressuscitados;
53 ... e apareceram para muitos.
54 Ora, o centurião e os que com ele guardavam a Jesus, vendo o terremoto e as coisas que haviam sucedido, tiveram grande temor, e disseram: Verdadeiramente este era o Filho de Deus.
1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
2 And when they had bound him, they led him away,
35 And they crucified him.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 …and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

2 E eis que houvera um grande terremoto; pois um anjo do Senhor descera do céu e, chegando-se, removera a pedra da porta, e sentou-se sobre ela.
3 Seu semblante era como um relâmpago, e as suas vestes brancas como neve.
5 E o anjo, respondendo, disse às mulheres: Não temais vós; pois Eu sei que buscais a Jesus, que foi crucificado.
6 Ele não está aqui; porque ele ressuscitou, como ele disse.
9 E, indo elas anunciar aos seus discípulos, eis que Jesus lhes veio ao encontro, dizendo: Eu vos saúdo. E elas, chegando, abraçaram os seus pés, e o adoraram.
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
46 e disse-lhes: Assim está escrito, e assim convinha que o Cristo sofresse e ressuscitasse dos mortos no terceiro dia,
48 E vós sois testemunhas destas coisas.
50 E ele levou-os para fora, até Betânia, e ele levantando as suas mãos, os abençoou.

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
CRISTO. A manifestação divina de Deus, que vem à carne para destruir o erro encarnado.
Christ. The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error.
Aquela afirmação de nosso Mestre: "Eu e o Pai somos um", separava-o da teologia escolástica dos rabinos. Sua compreensão mais elevada de Deus era uma repreensão para eles. Ele reconhecia apenas uma Mente e não reivindicava nenhuma outra. Ele sabia que o Eu era a Mente, e não corpo, e que a matéria, o pecado e o mal não eram a Mente; e sua compreensão dessa Ciência divina atraiu sobre ele os anátemas da época.
That saying of our Master, "I and my Father are one," separated him from the scholastic theology of the rabbis. His better understanding of God was a rebuke to them. He knew of but one Mind and laid no claim to any other. He knew that the Ego was Mind instead of body and that matter, sin, and evil were not Mind; and his understanding of this divine Science brought upon him the anathemas of the age.
O primeiro artigo de fé que nosso Mestre propôs aos seus discípulos foi a cura, e ele provou sua fé por meio de suas obras. Os cristãos primitivos eram sanadores. Por que esse elemento do Cristianismo se perdeu? Porque nossos sistemas religiosos são regidos, em maior ou menor grau, por nossos sistemas médicos.
A primeira idolatria foi a fé na matéria. As escolas tornaram a fé em medicamentos algo da moda, em vez da fé na Divindade. Ao confiar na matéria para destruir sua própria desarmonia, sacrificaram-se a saúde e a harmonia. Tais sistemas são desprovidos da vitalidade do poder espiritual, pelo qual o sentido material é tornado servo da Ciência e a religião se torna semelhante a Cristo.
Our Master's first article of faith propounded to his students was healing, and he proved his faith by his works. The ancient Christians were healers. Why has this element of Christianity been lost? Because our systems of religion are governed more or less by our systems of medicine. The first idolatry was faith in matter. The schools have rendered faith in drugs the fashion, rather than faith in Deity. By trusting matter to destroy its own discord, health and harmony have been sacrificed. Such systems are barren of the vitality of spiritual power, by which material sense is made the servant of Science and religion becomes Christlike.

The theology of Christian Science includes healing the sick.
As concepções opostas e falsas das pessoas ocultavam de sua percepção a filiação de Cristo para com Deus. Elas não conseguiam discernir sua existência espiritual. Suas mentes carnais estavam em inimizade com ela.
Seus pensamentos estavam repletos de erro mortal, em vez de estarem preenchidos pela ideia espiritual de Deus, conforme apresentada por Cristo Jesus.
Perdemos de vista a semelhança com Deus devido ao pecado, que obscurece o sentido espiritual da Verdade; e só compreendemos essa semelhança quando subjugamos o pecado e comprovamos a herança do homem: a liberdade dos filhos de Deus.
A origem espiritual e a compreensão de Jesus capacitaram-no a demonstrar os fatos do ser — a provar de modo irrefutável como a Verdade espiritual destrói o erro material, cura a doença e vence a morte.
The opposite and false views of the people hid from their sense Christ's sonship with God. They could not discern his spiritual existence. Their carnal minds were at enmity with it. Their thoughts were filled with mortal error, instead of with God's spiritual idea as presented by Christ Jesus. The likeness of God we lose sight of through sin, which beclouds the spiritual sense of Truth; and we realize this likeness only when we subdue sin and prove man's heritage, the liberty of the sons of God.
Jesus' spiritual origin and understanding enabled him to demonstrate the facts of being, — to prove irrefutably how spiritual Truth destroys material error, heals sickness, and overcomes death.
À filha do chefe da sinagoga — a quem consideravam morta, mas de quem ele disse: "ela não está morta, mas dorme" — ele simplesmente disse: "Donzela, Eu te digo, levanta-te!”!
To the synagogue ruler's daughter, whom they called dead but of whom he said, "she is not dead, but sleepeth," he simply said, "Damsel, I say unto thee, arise!"
"A vida eterna é isto", diz Jesus — *é*, não *será*; e então ele define a vida eterna como um conhecimento presente de seu Pai e de Si mesmo — o conhecimento do Amor, da Verdade e da Vida. "A vida eterna é isto: que conheçam a Ti, o único Deus verdadeiro, e a Jesus Cristo, a quem enviaste." As Escrituras dizem: "Nem só de pão viverá o homem, mas de toda palavra que sai da boca de Deus", mostrando que a Verdade é a própria vida do homem; mas a humanidade reluta em tornar prático esse ensinamento.

"This is life eternal," says Jesus, — is, not shall be; and then he defines everlasting life as a present knowledge of his Father and of himself, — the knowledge of Love, Truth, and Life. "This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent." The Scriptures say, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God," showing that Truth is the actual life of man; but mankind objects to making this teaching practical.
Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger.
O manso demonstrador do bem, o mais elevado instrutor e amigo do homem, enfrentou seu destino terreno a sós com Deus. Nenhum olho humano estava lá para compadecer-se, nenhum braço para salvar. Abandonado por todos a quem havia abençoado, esse fiel sentinela de Deus, no mais alto posto de poder e incumbido da mais grandiosa missão do céu, estava pronto para ser transformado pela renovação do Espírito infinito. Ele haveria de provar que o Cristo não está sujeito a condições materiais, mas está acima do alcance da ira humana e é capaz, por meio da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor, de triunfar sobre o pecado, a doença, a morte e a sepultura.
The meek demonstrator of good, the highest instructor and friend of man, met his earthly fate alone with God. No human eye was there to pity, no arm to save. Forsaken by all whom he had blessed, this faithful sentinel of God at the highest post of power, charged with the grandest trust of heaven, was ready to be transformed by the renewing of the infinite Spirit. He was to prove that the Christ is not subject to material conditions, but is above the reach of human wrath, and is able, through Truth, Life, and Love, to triumph over sin, sickness, death, and the grave.
Jesus previu a acolhida que a Ciência Cristã teria antes mesmo de ser compreendida, mas esse conhecimento prévio não o impediu. Ele cumpriu sua missão divina e, então, assentou-se à direita do Pai.
Jesus foresaw the reception Christian Science would have before it was understood, but this foreknowledge hindered him not. He fulfilled his God-mission, and then sat down at the right hand of the Father.
Sua obra de três dias no sepulcro imprimiu o selo da eternidade ao tempo. Ele provou que a Vida é imortal e que o Amor é o Senhor do ódio. Havia paredes de rocha sólida bloqueando o caminho, e uma grande pedra precisava ser removida da entrada da caverna; mas Jesus venceu todo obstáculo material, superou toda lei da matéria e saiu de seu sombrio lugar de repouso, coroado pela glória de um êxito sublime, uma vitória eterna.
Nosso Mestre demonstrou plena e definitivamente a Ciência divina em sua vitória sobre a morte e o sepulcro. O feito de Jesus destinava-se à iluminação dos homens e à salvação de todo o mundo do pecado, da doença e da morte.
His three days' work in the sepulchre set the seal of eternity on time. He proved Life to be deathless and Love to be the master of hate.
There were rock-ribbed walls in the way, and a great stone must be rolled from the cave's mouth; but Jesus vanquished every material obstacle, overcame every law of matter, and stepped forth from his gloomy resting-place, crowned with the glory of a sublime success, an everlasting victory.
Our Master fully and finally demonstrated divine Science in his victory over death and the grave. Jesus' deed was for the enlightenment of men and for the salvation of the whole world from sin, sickness, and death.
Por meio da grandeza de sua vida humana, ele demonstrou a Vida divina. Da amplitude de seu afeto puro, ele definiu o Amor. Com a abundância da Verdade, ele venceu o erro. O mundo não reconheceu sua retidão, por não a ver; mas a terra recebeu a harmonia que seu exemplo glorificado introduziu.
Through the magnitude of his human life, he demonstrated the divine Life. Out of the amplitude of his pure affection, he defined Love. With the affluence of Truth, he vanquished error. The world acknowledged not his righteousness, seeing it not; but earth received the harmony his glorified example introduced.
Assumindo em parte uma forma humana (isto é, tal como parecia à visão mortal) e sendo concebido por uma mãe humana, Jesus foi o mediador entre o Espírito e a carne, entre a Verdade e o erro.
Ao explicar e demonstrar o caminho da Ciência divina, ele se tornou o caminho da salvação para todos os que aceitaram Sua palavra. Dele, os mortais podem aprender como escapar do mal. Visto que o homem real está ligado pela Ciência ao seu Criador, basta aos mortais afastarem-se do pecado e perder de vista a natureza mortal para encontrar o Cristo — o homem real e sua relação com Deus — e reconhecer a filiação divina.
Wearing in part a human form (that is, as it seemed to mortal view), being conceived by a human mother, Jesus was the mediator between Spirit and the flesh, between Truth and error. Explaining and demonstrating the way of divine Science, he became the way of salvation to all who accepted his word. From him mortals may learn how to escape from evil. The real man being linked by Science to his Maker, mortals need only turn from sin and lose sight of mortal selfhood to find Christ, the real man and his relation to God, and to recognize the divine sonship.
Em Colossenses (3:4), Paulo escreve: "Quando Cristo, que é a nossa vida, aparecer [se manifestar], então vós também aparecereis [sereis manifestados] com ele em glória.".
Quando o ser espiritual for compreendido em toda a sua perfeição, continuidade e poder, então o homem se encontrará à imagem de Deus. O significado absoluto das palavras apostólicas é este: então o homem se encontrará à semelhança d'Ele, perfeito como o Pai, indestrutível na Vida, "escondido com Cristo em Deus" — com a Verdade no Amor divino,
onde o sentido humano não viu o homem.
In Colossians (iii. 4) Paul writes: "When Christ, who is our life, shall appear [be manifested], then shall ye also appear [be manifested] with him in glory." When spiritual being is understood in all its perfection, continuity, and might, then shall man be found in God's image. The absolute meaning of the apostolic words is this: Then shall man be found, in His likeness, perfect as the Father, indestructible in Life, "hid with Christ in God," — with Truth in divine Love, where human sense hath not seen man.
Quando aprendermos o caminho na Ciência Cristã e reconhecermos o ser espiritual do homem, contemplaremos e compreenderemos a criação de Deus — todas as glórias da terra, do céu e do homem.
When we learn the way in Christian Science and recognize man's spiritual being, we shall behold and understand God's creation, — all the glories of earth and heaven and man.
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja orar todos os dias: "Venha o Teu reino"; que o reinado da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor divinos se estabeleça em mim e expulse de mim todo pecado; e que a Tua Palavra enriqueça os afetos de toda a humanidade e os governe! — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 4
Nem a animosidade nem o mero apego pessoal devem impelir os motivos ou atos dos membros da Igreja Mãe. Na Ciência, somente o Amor divino governa o homem; e um Cientista Cristão reflete as doces comodidades do Amor, repreendendo o pecado, na verdadeira fraternidade, caridade e perdão. Os membros desta Igreja devem vigiar e orar diariamente para serem libertos de todo mal, de profetizar, julgar, condenar, aconselhar, influenciar ou serem influenciados erroneamente. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 1
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja defender-se diariamente contra a sugestão mental agressiva, e não ser levado a esquecer ou negligenciar seu dever para com Deus, seu líder e a humanidade. Por suas obras, ele será julgado — e justificado ou condenado. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 6.
“Cientistas cristãos, estabeleçam para vocês mesmos uma lei: que a negligência mental não possa causar dano a vocês, nem quando estiverem dormindo, nem quando estiverem acordados.” — (S&H, pág. 442)
