“Se confessarmos os nossos pecados, Ele é fiel e justo para nos perdoar os pecados e nos purificar de toda injustiça.”
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
6 Buscai ao Senhor enquanto se pode achar, invocai-o enquanto está perto.
7 Deixe o ímpio o seu caminho, e o homem mau e suas maquinações; e converta-se ao Senhor, pois ele terá misericórdia dele; e volte-se para o nosso Deus, porque é rico em perdoar.
13 Em lugar do espinheiro crescerá o cipreste, e em lugar da sarça crescerá a murta; E isso será glória para o SENHOR e sinal eterno, que não se apagará.
8 O Senhor é misericordioso e gracioso, lento para a ira e abundante em misericórdia.
9 Ele não repreenderá perpetuamente, nem guardará para sempre a sua ira.
3 O SENHOR me apareceu há muito tempo, dizendo: “Com amor eterno te amei; com amor leal a atraí para mim mesmo!
6. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
13. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
8. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
3. The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
SERMÃO DA LIÇÃO
23 E percorria Jesus toda a Galiléia, ensinando nas sinagogas, pregando o evangelho do reino e curando todas as doenças e enfermidades entre o povo.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
1 E, vendo as multidões, subiu ao monte; e, assentando-se, aproximaram-se dele os seus discípulos.
2 E, abrindo a boca, os ensinava, dizendo:
1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
9 Portanto, vós orareis assim: Pai nosso, que estás nos céus, santificado seja o teu nome.
10 Venha o teu reino, seja feita a tua vontade, assim na terra como no céu.
11 O pão nosso de cada dia nos dá hoje.
12 E perdoa-nos as nossas dívidas, assim como nós perdoamos aos nossos devedores.
13 E não nos deixes cair em tentação, mas livra-nos do mal; porque teu é o reino, o poder e a glória, para sempre. Amém.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
2 E aconteceu que, numa tarde, Davi se levantou do seu leito e andou passeando pelo terraço da casa do rei; e do terraço viu uma mulher que se estava lavando; e a mulher era muito formosa à vista.
3 Então Davi mandou perguntar pela mulher. E disseram: Não é esta Bate-Seba, filha de Eliã, mulher de Urias, o heteu?
4 Então Davi mandou mensageiros que a trouxessem; ela veio, e ele se deitou com ela; pois ela estava purificada da sua imundícia; e ela voltou para sua casa.
5 E a mulher concebeu, e enviou mensageiros a Davi, dizendo: Estou grávida.
6 Então Davi enviou esta mensagem a Joabe: “Envie-me Urias, o heteu”. E Joabe enviou Urias a Davi.
14 E aconteceu que pela manhã Davi escreveu uma carta a Joabe, e a enviou pela mão de Urias.
15 E escreveu na carta, dizendo: Colocai Urias na vanguarda da batalha mais intensa e retirai-vos dele, para que seja ferido e morra.
26 Quando a mulher de Urias soube que seu marido estava morto, chorou por seu marido.
27 Passado o luto, Davi mandou buscá-la em sua casa, e ela se tornou sua esposa e lhe deu um filho. Mas o que Davi fez desagradou ao Senhor.
2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
3 And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
6 And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
14 And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.
26 And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.
27 And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.
1 Então o Senhor enviou Natã a Davi. Este, aproximando-se, disse-lhe: Havia dois homens numa cidade: um rico e outro pobre.
2 O homem rico tinha rebanhos e manadas em grande número.
3 Mas o pobre não tinha nada, exceto uma cordeirinha que havia comprado e criado; ela cresceu junto com ele e com seus filhos; comia do seu próprio alimento, bebia do seu próprio copo, deitava-se no seu seio e era para ele como uma filha.
4 Certo dia chegou um viajante à casa do homem rico, e este não quis pegar uma das suas ovelhas ou um dos seus bois para dar de comer ao visitante que havia chegado; em vez disso, pegou a cordeirinha do homem pobre e a preparou para o homem que havia chegado.
5 Então a ira de Davi se acendeu grandemente contra aquele homem, e disse a Natã: Vive o Senhor, que o homem que fez tal coisa certamente morrerá.
6 E pela cordeirinha restituirá quatro vezes, porque fez uma coisa dessas e porque não se compadeceu.
7 Então Natã disse a Davi: Tu és o homem. Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Eu te ungi rei sobre Israel e te livrei das mãos de Saul;
13 Então Davi disse a Natã: Pequei contra o Senhor. Então Natã disse a Davi: O Senhor perdoou o teu pecado; não morrerás.
15 …o filho que a mulher de Urias dera a Davi, … estava muito doente.
19 …quando Davi viu que seus servos cochichavam, Davi percebeu que a criança estava morta:
22 E ele disse: Enquanto a criança ainda vivia, eu jejuei e chorei; porque dizia: Quem sabe se Deus se compadecerá de mim, e a criança continuará viva.”?
24 Então Davi consolou Bate-Seba, sua mulher. Teve relações com ela, e ela teve um filho, a quem Davi deu o nome de Salomão; e o SENHOR o amou..
1 And the Lord sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
15 …the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David, … was very sick.
19 …when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead:
22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
24 And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.
1 Tem misericórdia de mim, ó Deus, segundo a tua misericórdia; conforme a tua
grande clemência, apaga minhas transgressões!.
2 Lava-me completamente da minha iniquidade e purifica-me do meu pecado.
3 Pois eu reconheço as minhas transgressões, e trago sempre presente o horror do meu pecado.
4 Pequei contra ti, contra ti somente, e pratiquei o mal que tanto reprovas, Portanto, justa é a tua sentença, e incontestável, ao julgar-me condenado.
5 Eis que eu fui formado em iniquidade, e em pecado me concebeu minha mãe.
6 Eis que amas a verdade no íntimo, e no oculto me fazes conhecer a sabedoria.
7 Purifica-me com hissopo, e ficarei limpo; lava-me, e ficarei mais alvo do que a neve.
8 Faze-me ouvir júbilo e alegria, para que exultem os ossos que esmagaste.
9 Esconde o teu rosto dos meus pecados e apaga todas as minhas iniquidades.
10 Cria em mim, ó Deus, um coração puro, e renova dentro de mim um espírito inabalável.
11 Não me lances fora da tua presença, e não retires de mim o teu santo espírito.
12 Restitui-me a alegria da tua salvação e sustenta-me com um espírito disposto a obedecer.
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:
according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
12 Porque serei misericordioso para com as suas iniquidades, e dos seus pecados e das suas iniquidades não me lembrarei mais.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
O desígnio do Amor é reformar o pecador.
The design of Love is to reform the sinner.
Reconhecemos o perdão divino dos pecados na destruição do pecado e na compreensão espiritual que expulsa o mal como irreal. Mas a crença no pecado é punida enquanto ela perdurar.
We acknowledge God's forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.
Seria melhor ser exposto a todas as pragas da Terra do que suportar os efeitos cumulativos de uma consciência culpada.
It were better to be exposed to every plague on earth than to endure the cumulative effects of a guilty conscience.
Se o mal cessar na mente mortal arrependida, enquanto seus efeitos ainda permanecem no indivíduo, você pode remover essa desordem à medida que a lei de Deus for cumprida e a reforma cancelar o crime. O pecador saudável é o pecador endurecido.
If the evil is over in the repentant mortal mind, while its effects still remain on the individual, you can remove this disorder as God's law is fulfilled and reformation cancels the crime. The healthy sinner is the hardened sinner.
Cada pontada de arrependimento e sofrimento, cada esforço de reforma, cada bom pensamento e ação nos ajudarão a compreender a expiação de Jesus pelo pecado e a aumentar sua eficácia; mas se o pecador continua a orar e a se arrepender, a pecar e a se arrepender, ele tem pouca participação na expiação — na reconciliação com Deus — pois lhe falta o arrependimento prático, que reforma o coração e capacita o homem a fazer a vontade da sabedoria. Aqueles que não conseguem demonstrar, pelo menos em parte, o Princípio divino dos ensinamentos e da prática de nosso Mestre não têm parte em Deus. Se vivermos em desobediência a Ele, não devemos sentir segurança, embora Deus seja bom.
Every pang of repentance and suffering, every effort for reform, every good thought and deed, will help us to understand Jesus' atonement for sin and aid its efficacy; but if the sinner continues to pray and repent, sin and be sorry, he has little part in the atonement, — in the at-one-ment with God, — for he lacks the practical repentance, which reforms the heart and enables man to do the will of wisdom. Those who cannot demonstrate, at least in part, the divine Principle of the teachings and practice of our Master have no part in God. If living in disobedience to Him, we ought to feel no security, although God is good.
Por meio do arrependimento, do batismo espiritual e da regeneração, os mortais abandonam suas crenças materiais e sua falsa individualidade. É apenas uma questão de tempo até que "todos Me conhecerão [a Deus], desde o menor deles até o maior". A negação das reivindicações da matéria é um grande passo em direção às alegrias do Espírito, à liberdade humana e ao triunfo final sobre o corpo.
Só existe um caminho para o céu, para a harmonia, e Cristo, na Ciência divina, nos mostra esse caminho. É não conhecer nenhuma outra realidade — não ter outra consciência da vida — além do bem, de Deus e Seu reflexo, e elevar-se acima da chamada dor e do prazer dos sentidos.
O amor-próprio é mais opaco do que um corpo sólido. Em paciente obediência a um Deus paciente, trabalhemos para dissolver, com o solvente universal do Amor, o diamante do erro — a obstinação, a autojustificação e o amor-próprio — que guerreia contra a espiritualidade e é a lei do pecado e da morte.
Through repentance, spiritual baptism, and regeneration, mortals put off their material beliefs and false individuality. It is only a question of time when "they shall all know Me [God], from the least of them unto the greatest." Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards the joys of Spirit, towards human freedom and the final triumph over the body.
There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no other reality — to have no other consciousness of life — than good, God and His reflection, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses.
Self-love is more opaque than a solid body. In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error, — self-will, self-justification, and self-love, — which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death.
A Ciência Cristã ordena ao homem que domine as propensões — que mantenha o ódio em suspenso com a bondade, que conquiste a luxúria com a castidade, que se vingue com a caridade e que supere o engano com a honestidade. Sufoque esses erros em seus estágios iniciais, se não quiser alimentar um exército de conspiradores contra a saúde, a felicidade e o sucesso. Eles o entregarão ao juiz, o árbitro da verdade contra o erro. O juiz o entregará à justiça, e a sentença da lei moral será executada sobre a mente e o corpo mortais. Ambos serão algemados até que o último centavo seja pago — até que você tenha acertado suas contas com Deus. "Tudo o que o homem semear, isso também ceifará." O homem bom finalmente pode superar seu medo do pecado. Esta é a necessidade do pecado — destruir a si mesmo. O homem imortal demonstra o governo de Deus, o bem, no qual não há poder para pecar.
Christian Science commands man to master the propensities, — to hold hatred in abeyance with kindness, to conquer lust with chastity, revenge with charity, and to overcome deceit with honesty. Choke these errors in their early stages, if you would not cherish an army of conspirators against health, happiness, and success. They will deliver you to the judge, the arbiter of truth against error. The judge will deliver you to justice, and the sentence of the moral law will be executed upon mortal mind and body. Both will be manacled until the last farthing is paid, — until you have balanced your account with God. "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." The good man finally can overcome his fear of sin. This is sin's necessity, — to destroy itself. Immortal man demonstrates the government of God, good, in which is no power to sin.
O homem real, estando ligado pela Ciência ao seu Criador, basta que os mortais se afastem do pecado e percam de vista a individualidade mortal para encontrar Cristo, o homem real, e sua relação com Deus, e reconhecer a filiação divina. Cristo, a Verdade, foi demonstrado por meio de Jesus para comprovar o poder do Espírito sobre a carne — para mostrar que a Verdade se manifesta por seus efeitos sobre a mente e o corpo humanos, curando doenças e destruindo o pecado.
The real man being linked by Science to his Maker, mortals need only turn from sin and lose sight of mortal selfhood to find Christ, the real man and his relation to God, and to recognize the divine sonship. Christ, Truth, was demonstrated through Jesus to prove the power of Spirit over the flesh, — to show that Truth is made manifest by its effects upon the human mind and body, healing sickness and destroying sin.
A Vida, a Verdade e o Amor produzem morte, erro e ódio? O criador condena a Sua própria criação? O Princípio infalível da lei divina muda ou se arrepende? Não pode ser assim.
Does Life, Truth, and Love produce death, error, and hatred? Does the creator condemn His own creation? Does the unerring Principle of divine law change or repent? It cannot be so.
A tristeza por um erro cometido é apenas um passo em direção à reforma, e o passo mais fácil. O próximo e grande passo exigido pela sabedoria é o teste da nossa sinceridade — ou seja, a reforma. Para isso, somos colocados sob o estresse das circunstâncias. A tentação nos incita a repetir a ofensa, e a desgraça vem em troca do que é feito. Assim será para sempre, até que aprendamos que não há desconto na lei da justiça e que devemos pagar "o último centavo".
Sorrow for wrong-doing is but one step towards reform and the very easiest step. The next and great step required by wisdom is the test of our sincerity, — namely, reformation. To this end we are placed under the stress of circumstances. Temptation bids us repeat the offence, and woe comes in return for what is done. So it will ever be, till we learn that there is no discount in the law of justice and that we must pay "the uttermost farthing."
O Amor Divino corrige e governa o homem. Os homens podem perdoar, mas somente este Princípio divino reforma o pecador.
Causar sofrimento como resultado do pecado é o meio de destruir o pecado. Todo suposto prazer no pecado proporcionará mais do que seu equivalente em dor, até que a crença na vida material e no pecado seja destruída. Para alcançar o céu, a harmonia do ser, precisamos compreender o Princípio divino do ser.
"Deus é Amor." Mais do que isso não podemos pedir, mais alto não podemos olhar, mais longe não podemos ir. Supor que Deus perdoa ou pune o pecado conforme Sua misericórdia é buscada ou não é interpretar mal o Amor e fazer da oração a válvula de escape para o mal.
Divine Love corrects and governs man. Men may pardon, but this divine Principle alone reforms the sinner.
To cause suffering as the result of sin, is the means of destroying sin. Every supposed pleasure in sin will furnish more than its equivalent of pain, until belief in material life and sin is destroyed. To reach heaven, the harmony of being, we must understand the divine Principle of being.
"God is Love." More than this we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go. To suppose that God forgives or punishes sin according as His mercy is sought or unsought, is to misunderstand Love and to make prayer the safety-valve for wrong-doing.
Em justiça comum, devemos admitir que Deus não punirá o homem por fazer o que Ele o criou capaz de fazer e sabia desde o princípio que o homem faria. Deus é "tão puro de olhos que não pode ver o mal".
In common justice, we must admit that God will not punish man for doing what He created man capable of doing, and knew from the outset that man would do. God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil."
Nosso Deus Pai-Mãe, todo harmonioso,
Adorável.
Teu reino chegou; Tu estás sempre presente.
Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious,
Adorable One.
Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present.
Capacita-nos a saber — assim como no céu, na terra — que Deus é onipotente, supremo.
Dê-nos graça para hoje; alimente os afetos famintos;
E o Amor se reflete no amor;
E Deus não nos deixa cair em tentação, mas nos livra do pecado, da doença e da morte.
Pois Deus é infinito, todo-poderoso, toda Vida, Verdade, Amor, acima de tudo e Tudo.
Enable us to know, — as in heaven, so on earth, — God is omnipotent, supreme.
Give us grace for to-day; feed the famished affections;
And Love is reflected in love;
And God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.
For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love, over all, and All.
…eventualmente tanto o pecado quanto o sofrimento cairão aos pés do Amor eterno.
…eventually both sin and suffering will fall at the feet of everlasting Love.
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja orar todos os dias: "Venha o Teu reino"; que o reinado da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor divinos se estabeleça em mim e expulse de mim todo pecado; e que a Tua Palavra enriqueça os afetos de toda a humanidade e os governe! — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 4
Nem a animosidade nem o mero apego pessoal devem impelir os motivos ou atos dos membros da Igreja Mãe. Na Ciência, somente o Amor divino governa o homem; e um Cientista Cristão reflete as doces comodidades do Amor, repreendendo o pecado, na verdadeira fraternidade, caridade e perdão. Os membros desta Igreja devem vigiar e orar diariamente para serem libertos de todo mal, de profetizar, julgar, condenar, aconselhar, influenciar ou serem influenciados erroneamente. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 1
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja defender-se diariamente contra a sugestão mental agressiva, e não ser levado a esquecer ou negligenciar seu dever para com Deus, seu líder e a humanidade. Por suas obras, ele será julgado — e justificado ou condenado. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 6.
