50 E agora digo isto, irmãos: que carne e sangue não podem herdar o reino de Deus; nem o que é corrupto herdar a incorrupção.
51 Eis aqui vos digo um mistério: Na verdade, nem todos dormiremos, mas todos seremos transformados.
52 Num momento, num piscar de olhos, ao som da última trombeta; porque a trombeta soará, e os mortos ressuscitarão incorruptíveis, e nós seremos transformados.
53 Porque é necessário que isto que é corruptível se revista da incorruptibilidade, e que isto que é mortal se revista da imortalidade.
54 No momento em que este corpo perecível se revestir de incorruptibilidade, e o que é mortal, for revestido de imortalidade, então se cumprirá a palavra que está escrita: “Devorada, pois, foi a morte pela vitória!”.
50. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

SERMÃO DA LIÇÃO
3 E a vida eterna é esta: que te conheçam a ti, o único Deus verdadeiro, e a Jesus Cristo, a quem enviaste.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
1 Ora, a fé é o firme fundamento das coisas que se esperam, e a prova das coisas que se não veem.
2 Porque por ela os antigos alcançaram bom testemunho.
3 Pela fé entendemos que os mundos foram criados pela palavra de Deus, de maneira que o visível não foi feito do aparente.
5 Pela fé, Enoque foi trasladado para não ver a morte; e não foi achado, porque Deus o trasladara; porque antes da sua traslação havia recebido o testemunho de que tinha agradado a Deus.
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6 Ora, ficava ali o poço de Jacó. Jesus, pois, cansado da viagem, sentou-se junto ao poço; e era quase a hora sexta.
7 Veio uma mulher samaritana tirar água. Disse-lhe Jesus: Dá-me de beber.
9 Então a mulher samaritana lhe disse: Como, sendo tu judeu, me pedes de beber a mim, que sou mulher samaritana? Pois os judeus não se comunicam com os samaritanos.
10 Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Se você conhecesse o dom de Deus e quem é que está lhe pedindo água para beber, você lhe pediria, e ele lhe daria água viva.
11 Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, tu não tens com que tirá-la, e o poço é fundo; de onde, pois, tens essa água viva?
13 Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Qualquer que beber desta água tornará a ter sede.
14 Mas aquele que beber da água que eu lhe der nunca terá sede; pelo contrário, a água que eu lhe der será nele uma fonte a jorrar a vida eterna.
15 Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, dá-me dessa água, para que eu não tenha mais sede, nem precise vir aqui tirá-la.
16 Disse-lhe Jesus: Vai, chama o teu marido e vem cá.
17 A mulher respondeu: Não tenho marido. Disse-lhe Jesus: Disseste bem: Não tenho marido.
18 Porque tiveste cinco maridos, e o que agora tens não é teu marido. Nisto disseste com verdade.
19 Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, vejo que és profeta.
20 Nossos pais adoraram neste monte; e vós dizeis que em Jerusalém é o lugar onde se deve adorar.
21 Disse-lhe Jesus: Mulher, crê-me, a hora vem, em que nem neste monte, nem em Jerusalém adorareis o Pai.
22 Vós adorais o que não conheceis; nós adoramos o que sabemos, porque a salvação vem dos judeus.
23 Mas a hora vem, e agora é, em que os verdadeiros adoradores adorarão o Pai em espírito e em verdade; porque o Pai procura a tais que assim o adorem.
24 Deus é Espírito, e é necessário que os que o adoram o adorem em espírito e em verdade.
25 Disse-lhe a mulher: Eu sei que o Messias (que se chama o Cristo) vem; quando ele vier, nos anunciará tudo.
26 Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu O Sou, Eu que falo contigo.
1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
3 He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
16 E eis que, aproximando-se dele alguém, disse-lhe: Bom Mestre, que bem farei para conseguir a vida eterna?
17 E ele lhe disse: Por que me chamas de bom? Ninguém é bom, senão só Um, que é Deus; mas se queres entrar na Vida, guarda os mandamentos.
18 Ele lhe disse: Quais? Jesus disse: Não matarás, não cometerás adultério, não furtarás, não dirás falso testemunho,
19 Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe, e amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo.
20 O jovem lhe disse: Tudo isso tenho guardado desde a minha mocidade; que me falta ainda?
21 Disse-lhe Jesus: Se queres ser perfeito, vai, vende tudo o que tens e dá aos pobres, e terás um tesouro no céu; depois vem e segue-me.
22 Mas o jovem, ouvindo esta palavra, retirou-se triste, porque possuía muitas propriedades.
27 Então, respondeu Pedro, e disse-lhe: Eis que nós deixamos tudo, e te seguimos; que será, pois, de nós?
28 E Jesus lhes disse: Em verdade vos digo que vós, que me seguistes, quando na regeneração, o Filho do homem se assentar no trono da sua glória, também vos assentareis sobre doze tronos, para julgar as doze tribos de Israel.
29 E todo aquele que tiver deixado casas, ou irmãos, ou irmãs, ou pai, ou mãe, ou mulher, ou filhos, ou terras, por causa do Meu Nome, receberá cem vezes tanto, e herdará a vida eterna.
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
7 Não vos enganeis: Deus não se deixa enganar; pois tudo o que o homem semear, isso também colherá.
8 Porque quem semeia na sua carne, da carne ceifará a corrupção; mas quem semeia no Espírito, do Espírito ceifará a vida eterna.
9 E não nos cansemos de fazer o bem, porque no tempo certo faremos a colheita, se não desanimarmos..
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
58 Portanto, meus amados irmãos, permanecei firmes e que absolutamente nada vos abale. Dedicai-vos, dia após dia, à obra do Senhor, plenamente conscientes de que no Senhor, todo o vosso trabalho jamais será improdutivo.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
…na Ciência Cristã, o verdadeiro homem é governado por Deus — pelo bem, não pelo mal — e, portanto, não é mortal, mas imortal. Jesus ensinou aos seus discípulos a Ciência desta prova.
…in Christian Science the true man is governed by God — by good, not evil — and is therefore not a mortal but an immortal. Jesus had taught his disciples the Science of this proof.
O homem imortal era e é a imagem ou ideia de Deus, até mesmo a expressão infinita da Mente infinita, e o homem imortal é coexistente e coeterno com essa Mente.
Immortal man was and is God's image or idea, even the infinite expression of infinite Mind, and immortal man is coexistent and coeternal with that Mind.
Deus cria e governa o universo, incluindo o homem. O universo está repleto de ideias espirituais, que Ele desenvolve, e elas obedecem à Mente que as cria. A mente mortal transformaria o espiritual em material e, então, recuperaria o eu original do homem para escapar da mortalidade desse erro. Os mortais não são como os imortais, criados à imagem de Deus; mas, o Infinito Espírito sendo o Todo, a consciência mortal finalmente cederá ao fato científico e desaparecerá, e o verdadeiro sentido do ser, perfeito e para sempre intacto, surgirá.
God creates and governs the universe, including man. The universe is filled with spiritual ideas, which He evolves, and they are obedient to the Mind that makes them. Mortal mind would transform the spiritual into the material, and then recover man's original self in order to escape from the mortality of this error. Mortals are not like immortals, created in God's own image; but infinite Spirit being all, mortal consciousness will at last yield to the scientific fact and disappear, and the real sense of being, perfect and forever intact, will appear.
O nascimento, o crescimento, a maturidade e a decadência humanos são como a grama brotando do solo com belas folhas verdes, que depois murcham e retornam ao seu nada original. Essa aparência mortal é temporal; ela nunca se funde com o ser imortal, mas finalmente desaparece, e o homem imortal, espiritual e eterno, revela-se sendo o verdadeiro homem.
Human birth, growth, maturity, and decay are as the grass springing from the soil with beautiful green blades, afterwards to wither and return to its native nothingness. This mortal seeming is temporal; it never merges into immortal being, but finally disappears, and immortal man, spiritual and eternal, is found to be the real man.
Os mortais são as imitações dos imortais. São os filhos do maligno, ou do único mal, que declara que o homem começa no pó ou como um embrião material. Na Ciência divina, Deus e o homem real são inseparáveis como Princípio e ideia divinos.
Deus é o Princípio do homem, e o homem é a ideia de Deus. Portanto, o homem não é mortal nem material. Os mortais desaparecerão, e os imortais, ou os filhos de Deus, surgirão como as únicas e eternas verdades do homem. Os mortais não são filhos caídos de Deus. Eles nunca tiveram um estado de ser perfeito, que pudesse ser posteriormente recuperado. Eles foram, desde o início da história mortal, "concebidos em pecado e gerados em iniquidade". A mortalidade é finalmente absorvida pela imortalidade. O pecado, a doença e a morte devem desaparecer para dar lugar aos fatos que pertencem ao homem imortal.
Ao falar dos filhos de Deus, não dos filhos dos homens, Jesus disse: "O reino de Deus está dentro de vocês", isto é, a Verdade e o Amor reinam no homem real, mostrando que o homem à imagem de Deus é imaculado e eterno.
Mortals are the counterfeits of immortals. They are the children of the wicked one, or the one evil, which declares that man begins in dust or as a material embryo. In divine Science, God and the real man are inseparable as divine Principle and idea.
God is the Principle of man, and man is the idea of God. Hence man is not mortal nor material. Mortals will disappear, and immortals, or the children of God, will appear as the only and eternal verities of man. Mortals are not fallen children of God. They never had a perfect state of being, which may subsequently be regained. They were, from the beginning of mortal history, "conceived in sin and brought forth in iniquity." Mortality is finally swallowed up in immortality. Sin, sickness, and death must disappear to give place to the facts which belong to immortal man.
When speaking of God's children, not the children of men, Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you;" that is, Truth and Love reign in the real man, showing that man in God's image is unfallen and eternal.
Tudo o que é material é mortal. Para os cinco sentidos corporais, o homem parece ser matéria e mente unidas; mas a Ciência Cristã revela o homem como a ideia de Deus e declara que os sentidos corporais são ilusões mortais e errôneas. A Ciência Divina demonstra ser impossível que um corpo material, embora entrelaçado com o estrato mais elevado da matéria, erroneamente chamada mente, seja o homem — o homem genuíno e perfeito, a ideia imortal do ser, indestrutível e eterno. Se assim não fosse, o homem seria aniquilado.
Whatever is material is mortal. To the five corporeal senses, man appears to be matter and mind united; but Christian Science reveals man as the idea of God, and declares the corporeal senses to be mortal and erring illusions. Divine Science shows it to be impossible that a material body, though interwoven with matter's highest stratum, misnamed mind, should be man, — the genuine and perfect man, the immortal idea of being, indestructible and eternal. Were it otherwise, man would be annihilated.
A beleza, assim como a verdade, é eterna; mas a beleza das coisas materiais passa, desaparecendo e efêmera como a crença mortal. Costumes, educação e moda formam os padrões transitórios dos mortais. A imortalidade, isenta de idade ou decadência, tem uma glória própria — o esplendor da Alma. Homens e mulheres imortais são modelos do sentido espiritual, desenhados pela Mente perfeita e refletindo aquelas concepções superiores de beleza que transcendem todo o sentido material.
Beauty, as well as truth, is eternal; but the beauty of material things passes away, fading and fleeting as mortal belief. Custom, education, and fashion form the transient standards of mortals. Immortality, exempt from age or decay, has a glory of its own, — the radiance of Soul. Immortal men and women are models of spiritual sense, drawn by perfect Mind and reflecting those higher conceptions of loveliness which transcend all material sense.
O progresso nasce da experiência. É o amadurecimento do homem mortal, através do qual o mortal é abandonado em favor do imortal. Seja aqui ou na vida futura, o sofrimento ou a Ciência devem destruir todas as ilusões relativas à vida e à mente, e regenerar o sentido material e o eu. O velho homem com suas ações deve ser despojado. Nada sensual ou pecaminoso é imortal. A morte de um falso sentido material e do pecado, não a morte da matéria orgânica, é o que revela o homem e a Vida, harmoniosos, reais e eternos.
Se os mortais aprenderão isso mais cedo ou mais tarde, e por quanto tempo sofrerão as dores da destruição, depende da tenacidade do erro.
O conhecimento obtido pelos sentidos corporais leva ao pecado e à morte. Quando as evidências do Espírito e da matéria, da Verdade e do erro, parecem se misturar, elas repousam sobre fundamentos que o tempo está desgastando.
Progress is born of experience. It is the ripening of mortal man, through which the mortal is dropped for the immortal. Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self. The old man with his deeds must be put off. Nothing sensual or sinful is immortal. The death of a false material sense and of sin, not the death of organic matter, is what reveals man and Life, harmonious, real, and eternal.
Whether mortals will learn this sooner or later, and how long they will suffer the pangs of destruction, depends upon the tenacity of error.
The knowledge obtained from the corporeal senses leads to sin and death. When the evidence of Spirit and matter, Truth and error, seems to commingle, it rests upon foundations which time is wearing away.
O grande fato espiritual deve ser revelado: o homem é, e não será, perfeito e imortal. Devemos manter para sempre a consciência da existência e, mais cedo ou mais tarde, por meio de Cristo e da Ciência Cristã, dominaremos o pecado e a morte. A evidência da imortalidade do homem se tornará mais evidente à medida que as crenças materiais forem abandonadas e os fatos imortais do ser forem admitidos.
The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal. We must hold forever the consciousness of existence, and sooner or later, through Christ and Christian Science, we must master sin and death. The evidence of man's immortality will become more apparent, as material beliefs are given up and the immortal facts of being are admitted.
A alegria sem pecado — a perfeita harmonia e imortalidade da Vida, possuidora de ilimitada beleza e bondade divinas, sem um único prazer ou dor corporal — constitui o único homem verdadeiro e indestrutível, cujo ser é espiritual. Este estado de existência é científico e intacto — uma perfeição discernível apenas por aqueles que possuem a compreensão final de Cristo na Ciência divina. A morte jamais poderá apressar este estado de existência, pois a morte deve ser superada, e não submetida, antes que a imortalidade apareça.
The sinless joy, — the perfect harmony and immortality of Life, possessing unlimited divine beauty and goodness without a single bodily pleasure or pain, — constitutes the only veritable, indestructible man, whose being is spiritual. This state of existence is scientific and intact, — a perfection discernible only by those who have the final understanding of Christ in divine Science. Death can never hasten this state of existence, for death must be overcome, not submitted to, before immortality appears.
…o homem harmonioso e imortal existe desde sempre e está sempre além e acima da ilusão mortal de qualquer vida, substância e inteligência existente na matéria. Esta afirmação baseia-se em fatos, não em fábulas. A Ciência do Ser revela o homem como perfeito, assim como o Pai é perfeito, porque a Alma, ou Mente, do homem espiritual é Deus, o Princípio divino de todo ser, e porque este homem real é governado pela Alma em vez dos sentidos, pela lei do Espírito, não pelas chamadas leis da matéria.
…harmonious and immortal man has existed forever, and is always beyond and above the mortal illusion of any life, substance, and intelligence as existent in matter. This statement is based on fact, not fable. The Science of being reveals man as perfect, even as the Father is perfect, because the Soul, or Mind, of the spiritual man is God, the divine Principle of all being, and because this real man is governed by Soul instead of sense, by the law of Spirit, not by the so-called laws of matter.
Quando a ilusão da doença ou do pecado lhe tentar, apegue-se firmemente a Deus e à Sua ideia. Não permita que nada além da Sua semelhança habite em seu pensamento. Não deixe que o medo nem a dúvida ofusquem a sua clareza e a sua serena confiança de que no reconhecimento da vida harmoniosa — como eternamente a Vida É— pode destruir qualquer sensação dolorosa ou crença naquilo que a Vida não é. Deixe que a Ciência Cristã, em vez do sentido corpóreo, sustente a sua compreensão do Ser, e essa compreensão suplantará o erro pela Verdade, substituirá a mortalidade pela imortalidade e silenciará a discórdia pela harmonia.
When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony.
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja orar todos os dias: "Venha o Teu reino"; que o reinado da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor divinos se estabeleça em mim e expulse de mim todo pecado; e que a Tua Palavra enriqueça os afetos de toda a humanidade e os governe! — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 4
Nem a animosidade nem o mero apego pessoal devem impelir os motivos ou atos dos membros da Igreja Mãe. Na Ciência, somente o Amor divino governa o homem; e um Cientista Cristão reflete as doces comodidades do Amor, repreendendo o pecado, na verdadeira fraternidade, caridade e perdão.
