Em I João Lemos: “Amados, agora somos filhos de Deus.””Os filhos de Deus”! Os filhos perfeitos do Deus perfeito! Essa perfeição é um direito inato do homem, e “agora é o tempo Aceito” para reivindicá-la. Disse Jó: “familiariza-te agora com Ele, e fica em paz: assim te virá o bem.”Jó compreendeu que a paz, a saúde, a Felicidade, sim, o bem infinito, haviam sido concedidos ao homem por seu pai todo-amoroso, e que o conhecimento dessa verdade sobre Deus e o homem o levaria à posse consciente do bem.

Às vezes se diz: a Ciência Cristã pode me curar, mas vai demorar muito. Mas o tempo não tem nada a ver com a prática da Ciência Cristã. É a Verdade, não o tempo, que cura. A Palavra de Deus cura rápida, completa e permanentemente. Independentemente de quanto tempo o erro possa ter parecido ou alegado ser real, não precisa mais ser assim. Nenhuma forma de mal, nenhuma manifestação de discórdia ou desarmonia, pode existir na presença, ou consciência, de uma compreensão da onipotência e onipresença de Deus, o bem. Na realidade, o erro é nada; porque Deus nunca o criou. E como o erro é nada, ele nunca teve um começo. Assim entendendo, ficamos livres da sugestão mesmérica de que o erro fosse real esse tempo todo, ou que levará muito tempo para dissipá-lo ou destruí-lo. Agora é o tempo de todos experimentarem e desfrutarem de perfeita saúde e perfeita felicidade, porque tal é o plano de Deus para o seu amado filho.

Jesus nunca disse a ninguém que levaria tempo para ser curado. Pelo contrário, ele deu muitos exemplos de cura instantânea, como no caso da mulher “que estava doente com uma questão de sangue doze anos.”Ao cego que “estava sentado ao lado do caminho implorando”, disse: “Recebe a tua vista”; e instantaneamente o homem foi curado da cegueira. Para aquele que era leproso, ele disse: “sê limpo”; e novamente a Bíblia registra uma cura instantânea. No primeiro desses casos, bem como em outras curas que Jesus realizou, dizia-se que o paciente estava aflito há muitos anos. No entanto, as curas foram rápidas, completas e permanentes. A razão para isso foi a clara compreensão de Jesus de Deus perfeito e do homem perfeito, e da capacidade e poder de Deus para suprir todo o bem; na verdade, era o entendimento de que Deus já havia suprido todo o bem a todos os seus filhos, e que nada poderia separá-los disso.

Referindo-se à declaração do apóstolo: “agora é o tempo aceito; eis que agora é o dia da salvação”, diz a Sra. Eddy em “Ciência e Saúde com a chave das Escrituras” (p. 39), “Não que agora os homens devam se preparar para uma salvação do mundo futuro, ou segurança, mas que agora é o tempo em que experimentar essa salvação em espírito e em vida. “O homem vive no eterno agora. Tudo de bom é o aqui e agora do homem. Vamos, então, começar a perceber o que essa verdade significa, e aplicá-la em nossas experiências diárias, para que nossos dias possam se tornar mais brilhantes, e ainda mais brilhantes, “até o dia perfeito.”

Duvidar da vontade ou capacidade de Deus para curar e abençoar é esquecer que Deus é amor; é esquecer também que Deus cria o homem para abençoá-lo e que ele o está abençoando constantemente. Tudo o que é bom é de Deus, e pertence tanto a Deus como ao homem; mas tudo o que não é bom, seja qual for o seu nome específico, não pertence nem a Deus nem ao homem. Uma compreensão completa dessa verdade instantaneamente se libertaria de toda crença em discórdia, pecado, doença ou tristeza.

Quando entendemos e aplicamos a verdade como ensinada na Ciência Cristã, fizemos tudo o que é necessário para destruir qualquer fase ou forma de erro; e tendo feito a nossa parte, temos o direito de esperar e ver resultados imediatos. Devemos nos alegrar com a verdade da declaração da Sra. Eddy em Ciência e Saúde (P. 473), “Deus está em toda parte, e nada além dele está presente ou tem poder. “O homem vive na consciência do Amor Divino, e pode sentir, conhecer e estar consciente da presença e do poder de Deus, e de nada mais. O poder de Deus impõe toda declaração da Verdade. Portanto, não pode ser anulado ou revertido. Permanecendo firmes na Verdade, percebemos nossa filiação ao Pai, e podemos declarar com alegria: “agora é chegada a salvação, e a força, e o reino do nosso Deus, e o poder do seu Cristo.”

The Blessed Now

In I John we read, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God.” “The sons of God”! The perfect children of the perfect God! This perfection is man’s birthright, and “now is the accepted time” in which to claim it. Said Job, “Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.” Job realized that peace, health, happiness, yea, infinite good, had been bestowed on man by his all-loving Father, and that an acquaintance with this truth about God and man would bring one into the conscious possession of good.

Sometimes it is said: Christian Science may heal me, but it will take a long time. But time has nothing to do with the practice of Christian Science. It is Truth, not time, that heals. The Word of God heals quickly, completely, and permanently. Regardless of how long the error may have seemed or claimed to be real, it need not be so any longer. No form of evil, no manifestation of discord or inharmony, can exist in the presence, or consciousness, of an understanding of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, good. In reality, error is nothing; because God never created it. And since error is nothing, it never had a beginning. Thus understanding, we are freed from the mesmeric suggestion that error has been real for a long time, and that it will take a long time to dispel or destroy it. Now is the time for all to experience and enjoy perfect health and perfect happiness, because such is God’s plan for His beloved son.

Jesus never told any one that it would take time to be healed. On the contrary, he gave many examples of instantaneous healing, as in the case of the woman “which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years.” To the blind man who “sat by the way side begging” he said, “Receive thy sight;” and instantly the man was healed of blindness. To the one who was a leper he said, “Be thou clean;” and again the Bible records an instantaneous healing. In the first of these cases, as well as in other healings which Jesus brought about, the patient was said to have been afflicted for many years. Yet the healings were quick, complete, and permanent. The reason for this was Jesus’ clear understanding of perfect God and perfect man, and of God’s ability and power to supply all good; in fact, it was the understanding that God had already supplied all good to all of His children, and that nothing could separate them from it.

Referring to the apostle’s statement, “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,” Mrs. Eddy says in “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” (p. 39), “Not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life.” Man lives in the everlasting now. All good is man’s here and now. Let us, then, begin to realize what this truth means, and apply it in our daily experiences, that our days may become brighter, and still brighter, “unto the perfect day.”

To doubt God’s willingness or ability to heal and bless is to forget that God is Love; is to forget also that God creates man to bless him and that He is blessing him constantly. Whatever is good is of God, and belongs to both God and man; but whatever is not good, whatever be its specific name, belongs neither to God nor to man. A full understanding of this truth would instantaneously free from all belief in discord, sin, sickness, or sorrow.

When we understand and apply the truth as taught in Christian Science, we have done all that is necessary in order to destroy any phase or form of error; and having done our part, we have a right to expect and to see immediate results. We should rejoice in the truth of Mrs. Eddy’s statement in Science and Health (p. 473), “God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power.” Man lives in the consciousness of divine Love, and can feel and know and be conscious of the presence and power of God, and of nothing else. The power of God enforces every statement of Truth. Therefore it cannot be annulled or reversed. Abiding steadfastly in Truth, we realize our sonship with the Father, and can joyously declare, “Now is come salvation, and strength and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ.”
