O verdadeiro Cientista Cristão, o verdadeiro Metafísico, deve sempre estar atento para que, ao fazer uma declaração da Ciência Cristã, esteja fazendo-a diretamente a partir de sua própria comunhão com a Mente divina – nunca devido ao que esta pessoa possa ter supostamente dito, ou do que outra possa ter escrito, não importa quão importante seja o que foi dito ou escrito. Lembre-se do que Mary Baker Eddy nos disse: “Compreendemos melhor aquilo que começa em nós mesmos e, pela educação, se ilumina até o nascimento”. Nada é verdade apenas porque alguém o disse. É verdade apenas porque é a transmissão direta de Deus à Sua própria ideia.
Então, quando essa comunhão realmente acontece e a transmissão de Deus se torna a conclusão e convicção estabelecidas do Cientista Cristão, devido a sua verdade intrínseca, então, como Mary Baker Eddy tão belamente coloca, “o querido Amor me diz o Porquê e o Para quê”; E, muitas vezes, através da visão clara daquela a quem chamamos de Mary Baker Eddy, ou de Cristo Jesus, por meio da Bíblia, da Ciência e da Saúde, ou de alguma declaração sucinta da Sra. Eddy. Isso, porém, é sempre e somente corroborativo daquilo que o Amor divino já revelou a cada um, como sua própria convicção absoluta.
Uma declaração jamais deve ser feita meramente como uma dedução baseada na declaração de outrem, por mais verdadeira que esta última possa parecer, ou por mais uniformemente confiáveis que as declarações dessa fonte tenham se mostrado; pois, se assim for, perderá grande parte de seu poder e valor para quem a faz. Não se iludam quanto a isso. A negação não se ilude quanto à facilidade com que se utilizam declarações apócrifas para enganar até mesmo os mais sinceros. Estudem atentamente o artigo da Sra. Eddy, “Princípio e Prática”, e observem suas vigorosas advertências. Observe também a declaração de Mary Baker Eddy sobre este mesmo ponto: “A verdade só é discernida espiritualmente… A verdade não é vista simplesmente porque é verdade. Para ser recebida, ela deve corresponder a algum conhecimento desperto do Amor no coração.”
Antigamente, ao longo dos séculos, inúmeros sermões foram pregados com base em textos bíblicos, mas essa nunca é a maneira como o Cientista Cristão declara qualquer verdade. Ele não prega um sermão baseado em algum texto, ou seja, em alguma declaração feita por outrem, mas sim faz uma declaração verdadeira de fato, baseada em sua própria comunhão direta com Deus e naquilo que ele sabe por si mesmo, fundamentado no fato de ter estabelecido tudo em perfeita consonância com seu próprio denominador comum metafisicamente estabelecido: Eu conscientemente Sou, portanto, a Consciência deve primeiro Ser, e É, e assim necessariamente É Tudo o Que Existe.
Esta é a sua base invariável para todas as suas declarações, pensamentos e conhecimentos, e a partir dessa base ele faz todas as suas deduções. Então, ele fundamenta tudo com a gloriosa corroboração de seus dois mapas divinos, a Bíblia e Ciência e Saúde, juntamente com tudo o que Mary Baker Eddy escreveu, e talvez também com algumas das muitas coisas que ela teria dito. Mas nunca se esqueça de que sua base é sua própria compreensão do Amor, do Princípio divino, de Deus, e não de uma pessoa. Então você estará em terreno firme e poderá falar como alguém que tem autoridade, e não como os escribas e fariseus. Assim, você não estará pregando um sermão, mas declarando os fatos do Ser, de sua própria compreensão. É verdade, claro, que você está fortalecido por todos os lados com os Mapas da vida, que foram fornecidos pelo Amor divino, “para nosso aprendizado”, e deste último, Ciência e Saúde, cada Cientista Cristão recebe sua primeira e contínua manifestação da verdadeira compreensão.
A Sra. Eddy foi levada a declarar e aconselhar cada um de nós a “Reservar um tempo a cada dia para dizer: ‘Qual é a coisa mais poderosa do mundo?’ É Deus dizendo ‘EU SOU’ em Sua própria criação.” Assim, ela enfatizou o fato de que, toda vez que alguém usa o pronome “eu“, deve estar atento à verdade de que é realmente a Mente única, “dizendo ‘EU SOU’ em Sua própria criação”. Então, quanto poder há nesse “eu”? Todo o poder do Amor infinito e a inteligência do Amor infinito também. “Eu e o Pai somos um… Meu Pai… é maior que todos.”
Declare constante e com compreensão o que a Sra. Eddy quis dizer em sua declaração ao seu secretário, Calvin Frye:
“Vá sozinho, feche os olhos e, nas profundezas da sua própria consciência, diga repetidamente:
Eu sou, eu sou, eu sou. Todo o seu ser se encherá de uma sensação de poder para realizar, o poder para superar, o poder para fazer todas as coisas.
Eu sou porque Tu és, eu sou. Eu sou porque a Mente é, eu sou.
Eu sou o que Tu és, eu sou. Eu sou o que a Mente é, eu sou.
Eu estou contigo, Ó! Tu, EU SOU. Eu estou com a Mente, infinito EU SOU.
Eu sou bom, eu estou bem, eu estou abundantemente satisfeito, eu sou santo.
Eu sou porque Tu és, eu sou.
Eu sou porque a Mente é, eu sou.
‘Eu sou’, pronunciado para o bem, para a verdade, certamente se manifestará em bondade visível, em sucesso, em felicidade, em abundância.”
Veja o mundo hoje. Você sabe, a Ciência e a Saúde reiteram a declaração de Jesus de que vocês são a luz do mundo. Além disso, dizem que os Cientistas Cristãos devem “controlar o crime”. Você já leu isso; você sabe disso. Então você deve fazer isso.

The genuine Christian Scientist, the true Metaphysician must always be on his guard, that when he makes a statement of Christian Science, he is making it directly from his own communion with divine Mind – never because of what this person may have supposedly said, or the other one may have written, no matter how important what has been said or written is. Remember what Mrs. Eddy has told us, “We understand best that which begins in ourselves and by education brightens into birth.” Nothing is ever true just because some one has said it. It is only true because it is the direct impartation of God to His own idea.
Then, when this communion has really taken place and the impartation from God has become the settled conclusion and conviction of the Christian Scientist, because of its intrinsic truth, then, as Mrs. Eddy so beautifully puts it, “the dear Love tells me the Why and Wherefore”; and ofttimes through, or as, the clear vision of the one we call Mary Baker Eddy, or Christ Jesus, by way of the Bible or of Science and Health, or of some succinctly written statement of Mrs. Eddy. This however, is always and only, corroborative of what divine Love has already unfolded to one, as his own absolute conviction.
A statement must never be made merely as a deduction based on another’s statement, no matter how true the latter may appear to be, or how uniformly reliable statements from that source have proved to be; because if it is, it will lose a large measure of its power and value to the one now making the statement. Be not deceived on this. The negation is not deceived on how easy it is to use apocryphal statements to mislead even the most earnest.
Study carefully, Mrs. Eddy’s article, “Principle and Practice,” and note her vigorous warnings. Note, also Mrs. Eddy’s declaration on this very point: “Truth is only spiritually discerned . . . Truth is not seen merely because it is Truth. To be received, it must correspond to some awakened knowledge of Love in the heart.”
Of old, coming down through the ages, countless sermons have been preached from Bible texts, but this is never the way the Christian Scientist states any truth. He does not preach a sermon on some text, in other words, on some statement made by another, but rather does he make a true statement of fact based on his own direct communion with God, and that which he knows, of himself, based on his having founded everything in perfect agreement with his own metaphysically established common denominator -I consciously am, therefore Consciousness must first be, and IS, and so necessarily is All there Is.
This is his invariable basis for all his stating, thinking or knowing, and from this basis he makes his every deduction. Then he backs it up with all the glorious corroboration of his two divine charts, the Bible and Science and Health, together with all that Mrs. Eddy has written, and perhaps also with some of the many things she is recorded as having said. But, never fail to remember that your basis is your own understanding of Love, of divine Principle, God, and not a person at all. Then you are on solid ground, and can speak as one having authority, and not as the Scribes and Pharisees. Thus, you will not be preaching a sermon but declaring the facts of Being, of your own understanding. It is true of course, you are fortified on all sides with the Charts of life, which have been supplied by divine Love, “for our learning,” and from the latter of which, Science and Health, every single Christian Scientist gets his first and con-tinuing appearing of true understanding.
Mrs. Eddy was led to declare, and advise each one of us to “Take time each day to say, ‘What is the most powerful thing in the world?’ It is God saying I AM in His own creation.” Thus, she brought home the fact that every time one uses the pronoun “I,” he must be awake to the truth that it is really the one Mind, “saying I AM in His own creation.” Then how much power is there in that “I”? All the power of infinite Love, and the intelligence of infinite Love, too. “I and my Father are one. . . . My Father . . . is greater than all.”
Declare constantly and understandingly what Mrs Eddy meant in her statement to her secretary, Calvin Frye:
“Go alone and close your eyes, and in the depths of your own consciousness say over and over again, I am, I am, I am. Your whole being will be filled with a sense of power to accomplish, the power to overcome, the power to do all things.
I am because Thou art, I am. I am because Mind is, I am.
I am what Thou art, I am. I am what Mind is, I am.
I am with Thee, Oh! Thou I AM. I am with Mind, infinite I AM.
I am good, I am well, I am abundantly satisfied, I am holy. I am because Thou art, I am.
I am because Mind is, I am.
‘I am’ spoken upwards towards the good, the true, is sure to out-picture in visible good, in success, in happiness, in abundance.”
Look at the world today. You know, Science and Health reiterates Jesus’ statement that you are the light of the world. It further says, Christian Scientists must “hold crime in check.” You have read that; you know it. Then you must do it.
