Apegue-se Firmemente à Verdade

A Ciência Cristã revelou o fato de que o homem, ao refletir a Deus, expressa para sempre as qualidades de Deus. O homem não pode deixar de expressá-las; ele deve fazê-lo eternamente. Visto que isso é verdade, qualquer noção de ausência dessas qualidades é falsa. Além disso, é possível demonstrar que aquele cujo pensamento se apega às qualidades verdadeiras — e rejeita a crença de que os seus opostos possam ser reais — experimenta libertação e cura. O poder da Verdade para destruir o erro é reconhecido como presente onde o pensamento verdadeiro está ativo.

Jó tinha uma percepção clara desses fatos espirituais quando disse: “Apeguei-me à minha certeza do certo e não a largarei”. Ele disse isso enquanto sofria intensamente e estava sob a condenação de seus amigos. Sua justiça era a integridade — percebida e reconhecida — do homem como filho de Deus. Nenhuma aparência ou julgamento falso poderia atingir ou destruir essa justiça; por isso, ele se apegou a ela e não a largou.

Por sua fidelidade à Verdade revelada, ele finalmente alcançou a luz e a liberdade. Ele provou que a justiça à qual se apegava resultava em saúde, felicidade e sucesso. Isso está em harmonia com o que a Sra. Eddy diz em Ciência e Saúde com a Chave das Escrituras (p. 261): “Mantenha o pensamento firmemente fixo no que é duradouro, bom e verdadeiro, e você trará essas coisas para a sua experiência na proporção em que elas ocuparem os seus pensamentos”.

Saibamos, portanto, que todas as qualidades da Mente divina são nossas para sempre, por reflexo. Temos saúde, perfeição e alegria devido à relação científica do homem com Deus. Devemos nos apegar firmemente a essas qualidades; nunca devemos deixá-las escapar, por mais fortemente que sejamos tentados a isso pelo falso testemunho do sentido material. Na incerteza da experiência humana, é bom reconhecer a oportunidade como uma qualidade do Cristo, a Verdade. Com que frequência o medo nos tenta a acreditar que a atividade livre e plena de nossas habilidades é obstruída pela falta de oportunidade!

Sentimos que poderíamos ter sucesso em nossos negócios ou profissão se apenas tivéssemos oportunidade suficiente. Mas a oportunidade é ilimitada. O doente sempre tem a oportunidade de se recuperar; o pecador, de se reformar; e o aflito, de ser consolado. A oportunidade de alcançar o êxito está, igualmente, sempre ao nosso alcance. Reconheçamos esse fato científico e, com compreensão, apeguemo-nos firmemente a ele.

Se nos recusarmos a abrir mão do nosso direito divino de refletir todas as qualidades do bem eterno, discerniremos com maior clareza a Harmonia Perene do Ser e experimentaremos o poder sanador e transformador do Amor.

Hold Fast to Truth

Christian Science has revealed the fact that man, reflecting God, forever expresses the qualities of God. Man cannot help expressing them; he must do so forever. Because this is true, any sense of the absence of these qualities is false. Moreover, it is demonstrable that one whose thought holds to the true qualities, and rejects the belief that their opposites can be real, experiences liberation and healing. The power of Truth to destroy error is recognized as present where true thought is active.

Job had a clear perception of these spiritual facts when he said, “My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go.” This was said when he was in great suffering, and while he was laboring under the condemnation of his friends. His righteousness was the perceived and acknowledged integrity of man as the son of God. No false appearance or judgement could touch or destroy this righteousness; therefore he held it fast and would not let it go.

By his fidelity to revealed Truth he finally won his way to light and freedom. He proved that the righteousness to which he held resulted in health. happiness. and success. This is in harmony with what Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 261), “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts.”

Let us, therefore, know that all the qualities of divine Mind are ours forever, by reflection. We have health, perfection, and joy because of man’s scientific relation to God. We must hold these qualities fast; we must never let them go, however strongly tempted to do so by the false testimony of material sense. In the uncertainty of human experience it is well to recognize opportunity as a quality of the Christ, Truth. How often fear tempts us to believe that by lack of opportunity the free and full activity of our abilities is obstructed!

We feel that we could succeed in our business or profession if only we had sufficient opportunity. But opportunity is boundless. The sick man always has the opportunity to recover, the sinner to reform, the sorrowing to be comforted. The opportunity to succeed is, likewise, ever with us. Let us recognize this scientific fact, and with understanding hold it fast.

If we refuse to yield our divine right to reflect all the qualities of eternal good, we shall discern more clearly the everlasting harmony of being, and experience Love’s healing and transforming power.
