A Totalidade de Deus, o Bem

Desde os primórdios bíblicos, ao longo dos séculos, a pobre e sofredora humanidade tem sido propensa a aceitar como fato que o bem e o mal são igualmente reais em poder e presença. No livro didático da Ciência Cristã, “Ciência e Saúde com a Chave das Escrituras”, na página 330, Mary Baker Eddy escreve: “A noção de que tanto o mal quanto o bem são reais é uma ilusão do senso material, que a Ciência aniquila. O mal é nada, coisa nenhuma, nenhuma mente, nem poder.” E ela escreve ainda (ibid., p. 468): “Não há vida, verdade, inteligência, nem substância na matéria. Tudo é Mente infinita e sua manifestação infinita, pois Deus é Tudo-em-tudo.”

Ao manter firmemente no pensamento e compreender o fato de que Deus é Tudo em tudo e que o mal é uma negação — o nada —, é impossível não experimentar a cura da Ciência Cristã, seja de uma doença crônica, hereditária, funcional ou orgânica, de um acidente ou de uma fratura. Todos os que são capazes de aceitar as afirmações de verdade de Mary Baker Eddy podem começar imediatamente a compreender e demonstrar a totalidade do bem e o nada do mal, com o pecado, a doença, o sofrimento e a carência que os acompanham. A compreensão espiritual eleva o pensamento ao reino da Mente divina, onde a matéria e o mal não têm lugar nem poder; pois o “acusador” não está lá, e nada entra que “pratique abominação ou faça mentira”.

Nesse estado abençoado de consciência espiritual, experimenta-se uma paz mental que transcende a compreensão humana, percebendo a presença do amoroso Deus Pai-Mãe. Embora pareça que vemos por toda parte as manifestações do mal — pecado, doença, pobreza, conflito, que aparentam ter uma origem e serem reais —, elas não passam de sonhos, ilusões mortais, visto que Deus é Tudo em tudo, e na realidade não há poder ou presença além do bem. Sendo a realidade boa, o oposto do bem — o mal — deve ser irreal. Esse raciocínio científico responde à pergunta frequentemente feita pela humanidade: Qual é a origem do mal?

Na tentação no deserto, quando Jesus declarou firmemente a totalidade do bem, anjos, os pensamentos de Deus, o serviram depois que ele silenciou as sugestões malignas de um poder e presença que não eram Deus.

No livro didático da Ciência Cristã, “anjos” são definidos (p. 581) como “os pensamentos de Deus que se transmitem ao homem; intuições espirituais, puras e perfeitas; a inspiração da bondade, pureza e imortalidade, que contrabalançam todo o mal, a sensualidade e a mortalidade”. Esses anjos de Deus sussurram constantemente suas mensagens amorosas à consciência humana, guiando, inspirando e conduzindo à saúde e à santidade.

Os Cientistas Cristãos demonstram hoje o maravilhoso poder que acompanha a compreensão da totalidade do bem, curando os enfermos e pecadores. Eles são imensamente gratos ao Amor divino por inspirar e dotar sua líder, Mary Baker Eddy, com a plenitude da compreensão do Cristo, a Verdade, que a capacitou a dar ao mundo esse presente inestimável, o livro-texto da Ciência Cristã, para que todos que o desejarem possam lê-lo e começar a reconhecer as mensagens angelicais que revelam essa grande verdade de cura.

Aqueles que experimentaram o poder da Mente divina para curar, conforme ensinado em Ciência e Saúde, podem compreender o significado das palavras do Salmista: “Ele enviou a sua palavra, e os curou, e os livrou da destruição”. Essa Palavra certamente se revela ao coração receptivo por meio do estudo do livro-texto da Ciência Cristã e da escuta da “voz mansa e delicada” da Verdade. Estamos cada vez mais gratos pela alegria e pelo descanso que nos chegam ao compreendermos a grande verdade da totalidade de Deus, do bem, e da insignificância da matéria ou do mal, o que foi demonstrado pelo Mestre e explicado por nossa venerada líder.

The Allness of God, Good

From earliest Bible times, all down the ages, poor suffering humanity has been prone to accept it as fact that good and evil are equally real in power and presence. In the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” on page 330, Mrs. Eddy writes: “The notion that both evil and good are real is a delusion of material sense, which Science annihilates. Evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power.” And she further writes (ibid., p. 468): “There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all.”

As one steadfastly holds in thought, and realizes, the fact that God is All-in-all, and that evil is a negation,—nothing,—one cannot fail to experience Christian Science healing, whether of a chronic, hereditary, functional, or organic disease, of an accident, or of broken bones. All who are able to accept the statements of truth of Mrs. Eddy may begin at once to understand and demonstrate the allness of good and the nothingness of evil, with its attendant sin, sickness, suffering, and lack. Spiritual understanding lifts thought into the realm of divine Mind, where matter and evil have neither place nor power; for the “accuser” is not there, and nothing entereth that “worketh abomination, or maketh a lie.”

In this blessed state of spiritual consciousness one experiences a mental peace beyond human understanding, realizing the presence of the loving Father-Mother God. Although one seems to see all around the manifestations of evil,—sin, sickness, poverty, strife, which appear to have an origin and to be real,—they are but dreams, mortal illusions, since God is All-in-all, and in reality there is no power or presence other than good. Reality being good, the opposite of good—evil—must be unreal. This scientific reasoning answers the oft-repeated question of mankind, What is the origin of evil?

In the temptation in the wilderness, when Jesus steadfastly declared the allness of good, angels, God’s thoughts, ministered unto him after he had silenced the evil suggestions of a power and presence other than God.

In the Christian Science textbook “angels” are defined (p. 581) as “God’s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality.” These angels of God are ever whispering their loving messages to human consciousness, guiding, inspiring, and leading into health and holiness. Christian Scientists are to-day demonstrating the wonderful power that accompanies the understanding of the allness of good, by healing the sick and sinful. They are grateful beyond measure to divine Love for inspiring and endowing their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, with that fuller measure of the understanding of the Christ, Truth, which enabled her to give to the world that priceless gift, the Christian Science textbook, that all who will may read and begin to recognize the angelic messages which unfold this great healing truth.

Those who have experienced the power of divine Mind to heal, as taught in Science and Health, can realize the meaning of the Psalmist’s words, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” This Word is surely revealed to the receptive heart through the study of the textbook of Christian Science and the hearing of the “still small voice” of Truth. We are increasingly grateful for the joy and rest that come to us as we grasp the great fact of the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of matter or evil, which was demonstrated by the Master and explained by our revered Leader.
