12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

18 E um certo governante perguntou-lhe, dizendo: Bom Mestre, o que eu farei para herdar a vida eterna?
19 E Jesus lhe disse: Por que me chamas bom? Ninguém é bom, senão um, que é Deus.
20 Tu sabes os mandamentos: Não cometerás adultério, não assassinarás, não furtarás, não dirás falso testemunho, honra a teu pai e a tua mãe.
21 E ele disse: Tudo isso eu tenho guardado desde a minha juventude.
22 Ora, Jesus ouvindo estas coisas, lhe disse: Ainda te falta uma coisa; vende tudo quanto tens, e distribua entre os pobres, e tu terás um tesouro no céu; Venha, e siga-me.
23 E, ao ouvir esta palavra, ele ficou muito triste; porque ele era muito rico.
24 E, vendo Jesus que ele ficara muito triste, lhe disse: Quão difícil será para os ricos entrarem no reino de Deus!
25 Porque é mais fácil um camelo passar por um olho de agulha, do que entrar um homem rico no reino de Deus.
26 E os que ouviram isso disseram: Então, quem poderá ser salvo?
27 E ele disse: As coisas que são impossíveis para os homens são possíveis para Deus.
28 Então, disse Pedro: Eis que nós deixamos tudo, e te seguimos.

1 Seis dias antes da Páscoa, Jesus chegou a Betânia, onde estava Lázaro, que havia morrido, e a quem ele ressuscitou dos mortos.
9 Portanto, muita gente dos judeus soube que ele estava ali; e eles foram, não só por causa de Jesus, mas também para ver Lázaro, a quem ele ressuscitara dos mortos.
10 Mas os principais sacerdotes consultaram como poderiam também matar a Lázaro,
11 porque por causa dele muitos dos judeus se afastaram, e creram em Jesus.

25 Quem ama a sua vida perdê-la-á, e quem neste mundo odeia a sua vida, guardá-la-á para a vida eterna.
27 Agora a minha alma está perturbada; e o que direi? Pai, salva-me desta hora; mas foi por isto que eu vim a esta hora.
28 Pai, glorifica o teu nome. Então veio uma voz do céu, dizendo: Eu o glorifiquei e o glorificarei novamente.
29 Então, as pessoas que estavam ali e ouviram o barulho disseram que era um trovão; outras disseram: Um anjo falou com ele.
30 Jesus respondeu: "Essa voz não veio por minha causa, mas por causa de vocês."
35 Então Jesus lhes disse: "A luz ainda está convosco por um pouco de tempo. Andai enquanto tendes a luz, para que as trevas não vos surpreendam; pois quem anda nas trevas não sabe para onde vai."
36 Enquanto tendes a luz, crede na luz, para que vos torneis filhos da luz.
44 Jesus clamou e disse: Quem crê em mim não crê em mim, mas nAquele que me enviou.
45 E quem me vê a mim vê aquele que me enviou.

1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
1 O que diremos então? Permaneceremos em pecado, para que a graça possa abundar?
2 De forma alguma! Como nós, que estamos mortos para o pecado, viveremos ainda nele?
3 Não sabeis que todos os que fomos batizados em Jesus Cristo fomos batizados na sua morte?
4 …Para que, assim como Cristo foi ressuscitado dentre os mortos pela glória do Pai, assim também nós vivamos uma vida nova.
5 Pois, se fomos unidos a ele na semelhança da sua morte, certamente o seremos também na semelhança da sua ressurreição.
8 Ora, se morremos com Cristo, nós cremos que também com ele nós viveremos.
9 Sabendo que Cristo, ressuscitado dentre os mortos, já não morre; a morte não tem mais domínio sobre ele.
10 Porque, quanto a morrer, morreu para o pecado uma vez por todas; mas, quanto a viver, vive para Deus.
11 Da mesma forma, considerem-se mortos para o pecado, mas vivos para Deus em Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor.
18 Assim, libertos do pecado, vocês se tornaram servos da justiça.
22 Mas agora, tendo sido libertados do pecado, e tendo-vos tornado servos de Deus, tendes o vosso fruto para santificação, e por fim a vida eterna.
23 Porque o salário do pecado é a morte, mas o dom de Deus é a vida eterna, por Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor.
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
EOMA vida é eterna. Devemos descobrir isso e começar a demonstrar. A vida e a Bondade são imortais. Que possamos, então, moldar nossa visão da existência em beleza, frescor e continuidade, em vez de velhice e decadência.
Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight.
Pergunta: O que é a Vida?
Resposta: A vida é Princípio divino, Mente, Alma, Espírito. A vida não tem começo nem fim.
A eternidade, e não o tempo, expressa o pensamento da Vida, e o tempo não faz parte da eternidade. Um cessa na mesma proporção em que o outro é reconhecido.
O tempo é finito; a eternidade é infinita para sempre. A Vida não está na matéria e nem é da matéria. O que se denomina matéria é desconhecido para o Espírito, que inclui em Si toda a Substância e é a Vida eterna. Matéria é um conceito humano. A vida é Mente divina. A vida não é limitada. A morte e a finitude são desconhecidas para a Vida.
Question. — What is Life?
Answer. — Life is divine Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit. Life is without beginning and without end. Eternity, not time, expresses the thought of Life, and time is no part of eternity. One ceases in proportion as the other is recognized. Time is finite; eternity is forever infinite. Life is neither in nor of matter. What is termed matter is unknown to Spirit, which includes in itself all substance and is Life eternal. Matter is a human concept. Life is divine Mind. Life is not limited. Death and finiteness are unknown to Life.
"Esta é a vida eterna", diz Jesus — "é", não "será"; e então ele define a vida eterna como um conhecimento presente de seu Pai e de si mesmo — o conhecimento do Amor, da Verdade e da Vida. "Esta é a vida eterna: que te conheçam a Ti, o único Deus verdadeiro, e a Jesus Cristo, a quem enviaste." As Escrituras dizem: "Nem só de pão viverá o homem, mas de toda palavra que procede da boca de Deus", mostrando que a Verdade é a própria vida do homem; mas a humanidade se opõe a tornar esse ensinamento prático.
Cada provação da nossa fé em Deus nos fortalece. Quanto mais difícil parecer a condição material a ser superada pelo Espírito, mais forte deve ser a nossa fé e mais puro o nosso amor. O apóstolo João diz: "No amor não há medo; antes, o perfeito amor expulsa o medo. [...] Aquele que tem medo não está aperfeiçoado no amor." Eis uma proclamação definitiva e inspirada da Ciência Cristã.
"This is life eternal," says Jesus, — is, not shall be; and then he defines everlasting life as a present knowledge of his Father and of himself, — the knowledge of Love, Truth, and Life. "This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent." The Scriptures say, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God," showing that Truth is the actual life of man; but mankind objects to making this teaching practical.
Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger. The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love. The Apostle John says: "There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear. ... He that feareth is not made perfect in Love." Here is a definite and inspired proclamation of Christian Science.
Deus, o bem divino, não mata um homem para lhe dar a vida eterna, Pois só Deus é a vida do homem. Deus é, ao mesmo tempo, o centro e a circunferência do ser. É o mal que morre; o Bem não morre.
Todas as formas de erro sustentam as conclusões falsas de que existe mais de uma Vida; que a história material é tão real e viva quanto a história espiritual; que o erro mortal é tão conclusivamente mental quanto a Verdade imortal; e que existem duas entidades e seres separados e antagônicos, dois poderes — a saber, Espírito e matéria — resultando em uma terceira pessoa (o homem mortal) que perpetua as ilusões do pecado, da doença e da morte.
God, divine good, does not kill a man in order to give him eternal Life, for God alone is man's life. God is at once the centre and circumference of being. It is evil that dies; good dies not.
All forms of error support the false conclusions that there is more than one Life; that material history is as real and living as spiritual history; that mortal error is as conclusively mental as immortal Truth; and that there are two separate, antagonistic entities and beings, two powers, — namely, Spirit and matter, — resulting in a third person (mortal man) who carries out the delusions of sin, sickness, and death.
O homem é mais do que uma forma material com uma mente interior, que precisa escapar do seu ambiente para alcançar a imortalidade. O homem reflete o infinito, e esse reflexo é a verdadeira ideia de Deus.

Man is more than a material form with a mind inside, which must escape from its environments in order to be immortal. Man reflects infinity, and this reflection is the true idea of God.
God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis.

Jesus bore our sins in his body.
Através da magnitude de sua vida humana, ele demonstrou a Vida divina. Da amplitude de seu puro afeto, ele definiu o Amor. Com a abundância da Verdade, ele venceu o erro. O mundo não reconheceu sua retidão, por não a ter visto; mas a terra recebeu a harmonia que seu glorificado exemplo introduziu.
Quem está pronto para seguir seus ensinamentos e exemplo?
Through the magnitude of his human life, he demonstrated the divine Life. Out of the amplitude of his pure affection, he defined Love. With the affluence of Truth, he vanquished error. The world acknowledged not his righteousness, seeing it not; but earth received the harmony his glorified example introduced.
Who is ready to follow his teaching and example?
Quando a ilusão da doença ou do pecado o tentar, apegue-se firmemente a Deus e à Sua ideia. Não permita que nada além da Sua semelhança permaneça em seu pensamento. Que nem o medo nem a dúvida obscureçam sua clareza de percepção e sua serena confiança de que o reconhecimento da vida harmoniosa — como a Vida eternamente é — pode destruir qualquer sensação dolorosa ou crença naquilo que a Vida não é. Deixe que a Ciência Cristã, em vez da percepção corporal, sustente sua compreensão do ser, e essa compreensão suplantará o erro pela Verdade, substituirá a mortalidade pela imortalidade e silenciará a discórdia pela harmonia.
When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony.
Devemos reconhecer a capacidade da força mental de neutralizar as concepções errôneas humanas e substituí-las por uma vida espiritual, não material.
É preciso revelar o grande fato espiritual de que o homem é, e não que será, perfeito e imortal. Devemos manter para sempre a consciência da existência e, mais cedo ou mais tarde, por meio de Cristo e da Ciência Cristã, venceremos o pecado e a morte. A evidência da imortalidade do homem se tornará mais evidente à medida que as crenças materiais forem abandonadas e os fatos imortais do ser forem admitidos.
We must realize the ability of mental might to offset human misconceptions and to replace them with the life which is spiritual, not material.
The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal. We must hold forever the consciousness of existence, and sooner or later, through Christ and Christian Science, we must master sin and death. The evidence of man's immortality will become more apparent, as material beliefs are given up and the immortal facts of being are admitted.
Espiritualmente, compreender que existe apenas um criador, Deus, revela toda a criação, confirma as Escrituras, traz a doce certeza de que não haverá separação, nem dor, e que o homem é imortal, perfeito e eterno.
Spiritually to understand that there is but one creator, God, unfolds all creation, confirms the Scriptures, brings the sweet assurance of no parting, no pain, and of man deathless and perfect and eternal.
Ouçamos a conclusão de toda a questão: amar a Deus e guardar os Seus mandamentos, pois isso é a essência do homem à Sua imagem e semelhança. O Amor Divino é infinito. Portanto, tudo o que realmente existe está em Deus e provém de Deus, e manifesta o Seu amor.
"Não terás outros deuses além de mim." (Êxodo 20:3) O Primeiro Mandamento é o meu texto favorito. Ele demonstra a Ciência Cristã. Inculca a trindade de Deus, Espírito e Mente; significa que o homem não terá outro espírito ou mente senão Deus, o bem eterno, e que todos os homens terão uma só Mente. O princípio divino do Primeiro Mandamento fundamenta a Ciência do Ser, pela qual o homem demonstra saúde, santidade e vida eterna.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: love God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole of man in His image and likeness. Divine Love is infinite. Therefore all that really exists is in and of God, and manifests His love.
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus xx. 3.) The First Commandment is my favorite text. It demonstrates Christian Science. It inculcates the triunity of God, Spirit, Mind; it signifies that man shall have no other spirit or mind but God, eternal good, and that all men shall have one Mind. The divine Principle of the First Commandment bases the Science of being, by which man demonstrates health, holiness, and life eternal.
