1. Quão amáveis são os teus tabernáculos, ó SENHOR dos Exércitos!
2. A minha alma anseia, sim, desfalece pelos átrios do Senhor; o meu coração e a minha carne clamam pelo Deus vivo.
3. Sim, o pardal encontrou casa, e a andorinha ninho para si, onde ponha seus filhotes, até mesmo nos teus altares, ó SENHOR dos Exércitos, meu Rei e meu Deus.
4. Bem-aventurados os que habitam em tua casa; eles te louvarão continuamente.
7. Eles vão de força em força, cada um deles em Sião aparece diante de Deus.
9. Eis que ó Deus, nosso escudo, olha para a face do teu ungido.
10. Pois um dia nos teus átrios vale mais que mil; prefiro estar à porta da casa do meu Deus a habitar nas tendas da impiedade.
11. Porque o SENHOR Deus é sol e escudo; o SENHOR dará graça e glória; não negará bem algum aos que andam retamente.
1. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
2. My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3. Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee.
7. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
9. Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11. For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
SERMÃO DA LIÇÃO
8 Oh, que os homens louvem o Senhor por sua bondade e por suas maravilhosas obras para com os filhos dos homens!
9 Pois ele satisfaz a alma sedenta e sacia a alma faminta com bondade.
8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
1 Naquele tempo, Jesus passou pela plantação de trigo num sábado;
22 Então lhe trouxeram um endemoninhado, cego e mudo; e ele o curou, de modo que o cego e mudo passou a falar e a ver.
23 E todo o povo ficou admirado e disse: Não é este o filho de Davi?
24 Mas, quando os fariseus ouviram isso, disseram: Este homem não expulsa demônios senão por Belzebu, príncipe dos demônios.
25 E Jesus, conhecendo-lhes os pensamentos, disse-lhes: Todo reino dividido contra si mesmo será assolado; e toda cidade ou casa dividida contra si mesma não subsistirá.
26 E se Satanás expulsa Satanás, está dividido contra si mesmo; como subsistirá então o seu reino?
27 E se eu expulso demônios por Belzebu, por quem os expulsam os vossos filhos? Portanto, eles mesmos serão os vossos juízes.
28 Mas, se eu expulso demônios pelo Espírito de Deus, então o reino de Deus chegou até vocês.

24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
1 Havia um fariseu chamado Nicodemos, um dos principais líderes dos judeus:
2 Este mesmo veio a Jesus à noite e disse-lhe: Rabi, sabemos que és um mestre vindo de Deus, porque ninguém pode fazer estes sinais que tu fazes, se Deus não estiver com ele.
3 Jesus respondeu: "Em verdade, em verdade te digo que, se alguém não nascer de novo, não pode ver o reino de Deus."
4 Disse-lhe Nicodemos: Como pode um homem nascer, sendo velho? Pode, porventura, entrar segunda vez no ventre de sua mãe e nascer?
5 Jesus respondeu: "Em verdade, em verdade te digo que, se alguém não nascer da água e do Espírito, não pode entrar no reino de Deus.
6 O que é nascido da carne é carne; e o que é nascido do Espírito é espírito.
7 Não te admires de eu te haver dito: Vós deveis nascer de novo.
8 O vento sopra onde quer, e tu ouves a sua voz, mas não sabes donde vem, nem para onde vai; assim é todo aquele que é nascido do Espírito.

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

19 Ou não sabeis que o vosso corpo é o templo do Espírito Santo, que habita em vós, o qual recebestes de Deus, e que não sois de vós mesmos?

35 Mas alguém dirá: Como ressuscitam os mortos? E com que corpos vêm eles?
36 Tolo; o que tu semeias não é despertado, se não morrer;

38 Mas Deus dá-lhe o corpo como lhe agrada, e a cada semente o seu próprio corpo.

43 é semeado na desonra, e ressuscitado em glória. É semeado na fraqueza, e ressuscitado em poder;

50 Ora, digo isto, irmãos, que a carne e o sangue não podem herdar o reino de Deus, nem a corrupção herdar a incorrupção.
51 Eis que Eu vos digo um mistério: nem todos dormiremos, mas todos seremos transformados,
52 Num instante, num abrir e fechar de olhos, ao soar da última trombeta; porque a trombeta soará, e os mortos ressuscitarão incorruptíveis, e nós seremos transformados.
53 Pois é necessário que este corpo corruptível se revista da incorruptibilidade, e que este corpo mortal se revista da imortalidade.
54 Quando, pois, este corpo corruptível se revestir da incorruptibilidade, e este corpo mortal se revestir da imortalidade, então se cumprirá a palavra que está escrita: Tragada foi a morte na vitória.
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Pois sabemos que, se a nossa casa terrestre, este tabernáculo, for desfeita, temos da parte de Deus um edifício, uma casa não feita por mãos humanas, eterna nos céus.
2 Pois nisto gememos, desejando muito sermos revestidos da nossa casa celestial:
3 Se assim for, estando vestidos, não seremos encontrados nus.
4 Pois nós, que estamos nesta tenda, gememos, estando sobrecarregados; não porque desejamos ser despidos, mas revestidos, para que a mortalidade seja absorvida pela vida.
5 Ora, quem nos moldou para si mesmo foi Deus, que também nos tem dado o penhor do Espírito.
6 Por isso, nós estamos sempre confiantes, sabendo que, enquanto habitamos no corpo, estamos ausentes do Senhor;
7 (Pois andamos por fé e não pela visão:)
8 Digo-lhe, pois, estamos confiantes e preferimos estar ausentes do corpo e presentes com o Senhor.
9 Por isso, nos esforçamos para que, presentes ou ausentes, sejamos aceitos por ele.
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
23 Que o próprio Deus da paz os santifique completamente; e que todo o espírito, alma e corpo de vocês sejam conservados irrepreensíveis para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Alma é sinônimo de Espírito, Deus, o Princípio criador, governante e infinito que transcende a forma finita, da qual as formas apenas fazem parte.
Soul is synonymous with Spirit, God, the creative, governing, infinite Principle outside of finite form, which forms only reflect.
Pergunta: O que são corpo e alma?
Resposta: A identidade é o reflexo do Espírito, o reflexo em múltiplas formas do Princípio vivo, o Amor. A alma é a Substância, a Vida e a inteligência do homem, que é individualizada, mas não material. A alma jamais poderá refletir algo inferior ao Espírito.
O homem é a expressão da Alma. Os índios vislumbraram um pouco dessa realidade subjacente quando chamaram um certo lago belíssimo de "o sorriso do Grande Espírito".
Separado do homem, que expressa a Alma, o Espírito seria uma nulidade; o homem,
divorciado do Espírito, perderia sua entidade. Mas não há, e não pode haver, tal divisão, pois o homem coexiste com Deus.
Question. — What are body and Soul?
Answer. — Identity is the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love. Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.
Man is the expression of Soul. The Indians caught some glimpses of the underlying reality, when they called a certain beautiful lake "the smile of the Great Spirit." Separated from man, who expresses Soul, Spirit would be a nonentity; man, divorced from Spirit, would lose his entity. But there is, there can be, no such division, for man is coexistent with God.
TEMPLO. Corpo; a ideia de Vida, substância e inteligência; a superestrutura da Verdade; o santuário do Amor;
Temple. Body; the idea of Life, substance, and intelligence; the superstructure of Truth; the shrine of Love;
A qualidade vital da Mente é o Espírito, não a matéria.
The life-giving quality of Mind is Spirit, not matter.
A vida é a lei da Alma, a própria lei do espírito da Verdade, e a Alma nunca está sem seu representante. O ser individual do homem não pode morrer nem desaparecer na inconsciência, assim como a Alma, pois ambos são imortais. ... A crença de que a existência depende da matéria precisa ser enfrentada e dominada pela Ciência antes que a Vida possa ser compreendida e a harmonia alcançada.
Life is the law of Soul, even the law of the spirit of Truth, and Soul is never without its representative. Man's individual being can no more die nor disappear in unconsciousness than can Soul, for both are immortal. … The belief that existence is contingent on matter must be met and mastered by Science, before Life can be understood and harmony obtained.
A alma possui recursos infinitos para abençoar a humanidade, e a felicidade seria mais facilmente alcançada e mais segura em nossa posse se buscada na alma. Somente prazeres superiores podem satisfazer os anseios do homem imortal. Não podemos circunscrever a felicidade aos limites dos sentidos pessoais. Os sentidos não conferem prazer verdadeiro.
Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul. Higher enjoyments alone can satisfy the cravings of immortal man. We cannot circumscribe happiness within the limits of personal sense. The senses confer no real enjoyment.
A Mente divina, que forma o botão e a flor, cuidará do corpo humano, assim como veste o lírio; mas que nenhum mortal interfira no governo de Deus impondo as leis de conceitos humanos errôneos.
A natureza superior do homem não é governada pela inferior; se fosse, a ordem da sabedoria seria invertida. Nossas visões distorcidas da vida ocultam a harmonia eterna e produzem os males dos quais nos queixamos.
O fato de os mortais acreditarem em leis materiais e rejeitarem a Ciência da Mente não significa que a materialidade seja primordial e a lei superior da Alma, a última.
The divine Mind, which forms the bud and blossom, will care for the human body, even as it clothes the lily; but let no mortal interfere with God's government by thrusting in the laws of erring, human concepts.
The higher nature of man is not governed by the lower; if it were, the order of wisdom would be reversed. Our false views of life hide eternal harmony, and produce the ills of which we complain. Because mortals believe in material laws and reject the Science of Mind, this does not make materiality first and the superior law of Soul last.
O corpo parece agir por si só apenas porque a mente mortal ignora a si mesma, suas próprias ações e suas consequências — ignora que a causa predisponente, remota e desencadeadora de todos os efeitos nocivos é uma lei da chamada mente mortal, e não da matéria. A mente é a mestra dos sentidos corporais e pode vencer a doença, o pecado e a morte.
The body seems to be self-acting, only because mortal mind is ignorant of itself, of its own actions, and of their results, — ignorant that the predisposing, remote, and exciting cause of all bad effects is a law of so-called mortal mind, not of matter. Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death.
Essa noção científica do ser, que abandona a matéria em favor do Espírito, de modo algum sugere a absorção do homem pela Divindade e a perda de sua identidade, mas confere ao homem uma individualidade ampliada, uma esfera mais vasta de pensamento e ação, um amor mais abrangente, uma paz mais elevada e permanente.
This scientific sense of being, forsaking matter for Spirit, by no means suggests man's absorption into Deity and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man enlarged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent peace.
A Ciência do Ser revela o homem como perfeito, assim como o Pai é perfeito, porque a Alma, ou Mente, do homem espiritual é Deus, o Princípio divino de todo o ser, e porque este homem real é governado pela Alma em vez dos sentidos, pela lei do Espírito, não pelas chamadas leis da matéria.
The Science of being reveals man as perfect, even as the Father is perfect, because the Soul, or Mind, of the spiritual man is God, the divine Principle of all being, and because this real man is governed by Soul instead of sense, by the law of Spirit, not by the so-called laws of matter.
Nossas teorias cometem o mesmo erro a respeito da alma e do corpo que Ptolomeu cometeu a respeito do sistema solar.
Elas insistem que a alma reside no corpo e na mente, sendo, portanto, tributária da matéria.
A ciência astronômica refutou a falsa teoria sobre as relações entre os corpos celestes, e a Ciência Cristã certamente refutará o erro ainda maior a respeito de nossos corpos terrestres. A verdadeira ideia e o princípio do homem então se revelarão.
O equívoco ptolomaico não poderia afetar a harmonia do ser como afeta o erro relativo à alma e ao corpo, que inverte a ordem da Ciência e atribui à matéria o poder e a prerrogativa do Espírito, de modo que o homem se torna a criatura mais absolutamente fraca e desarmoniosa do universo.
Our theories make the same mistake regarding Soul and body that Ptolemy made regarding the solar system. They insist that soul is in body and mind therefore tributary to matter. Astronomical science has destroyed the false theory as to the relations of the celestial bodies, and Christian Science will surely destroy the greater error as to our terrestrial bodies. The true idea and Principle of man will then appear. The Ptolemaic blunder could not affect the harmony of being as does the error relating to soul and body, which reverses the order of Science and assigns to matter the power and prerogative of Spirit, so that man becomes the most absolutely weak and inharmonious creature in the universe.
Estar "presente com o Senhor" não significa ter mero êxtase emocional ou fé, mas a demonstração e a compreensão reais da Vida conforme revelada na Ciência Cristã. Estar "com o Senhor" é estar em obediência à lei de Deus, ser absolutamente governado pelo Amor divino — pelo Espírito, não pela matéria.
Tome consciência, por um instante, de que a Vida e a inteligência são puramente espirituais — não estão na matéria nem são da matéria — e o corpo não apresentará queixas. Se você sofre por acreditar na doença, perceberá que, de repente, estará bem. A tristeza se transforma em alegria quando o corpo é controlado pela Vida espiritual, pela Verdade e pelo Amor. Daí a esperança da promessa de Jesus: "Aquele que crê em mim fará também as obras que eu faço, porque eu vou para o Pai" — [porque o Ego está ausente do corpo e presente com a Verdade e o Amor].
To be "present with the Lord" is to have, not mere emotional ecstasy or faith, but the actual demonstration and understanding of Life as revealed in Christian Science. To be "with the Lord" is to be in obedience to the law of God, to be absolutely governed by divine Love, — by Spirit, not by matter.
Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual, — neither in nor of matter, — and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well. Sorrow is turned into joy when the body is controlled by spiritual Life, Truth, and Love. Hence the hope of the promise Jesus bestows: "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; ... because I go unto my Father," — [because the Ego is absent from the body, and present with Truth and Love.]
Se não nos elevarmos além da fé cega, a Ciência da cura não será alcançada, e a existência da Alma, em substituição à existência sensorial, não será compreendida. Apreendemos a Vida na Ciência divina somente quando vivemos acima dos sentidos corporais e os corrigimos. Nossa admissão proporcional das exigências do bem ou do mal determina a harmonia de nossa existência — nossa saúde, nossa longevidade e nosso Cristianismo.
If we rise no higher than blind faith, the Science of healing is not attained, and Soul-existence, in the place of sense-existence, is not comprehended. We apprehend Life in divine Science only as we live above corporeal sense and correct it. Our proportionate admission of the claims of good or of evil determines the harmony of our existence, — our health, our longevity, and our Christianity.
Tu amas o Senhor teu Deus de todo o teu coração, de toda a tua alma e de todo o teu entendimento?
Este mandamento abrange muito, inclusive a renúncia a toda sensação, afeto e adoração meramente materiais. Este é o Eldorado do Cristianismo. Envolve a Ciência da Vida e reconhece apenas o controle divino do Espírito, no qual a Alma é nossa mestra, e os sentidos materiais e a vontade humana não têm lugar.
Dost thou "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind"? This command includes much, even the surrender of all merely material sensation, affection, and worship. This is the El Dorado of Christianity. It involves the Science of Life, and recognizes only the divine control of Spirit, in which Soul is our master, and material sense and human will have no place.
Quando a humanidade compreender esta Ciência, ela se tornará a lei da Vida para o homem, - até mesmo a lei superior da Alma, que prevalece sobre os sentidos materiais através da harmonia e da imortalidade.
When humanity does understand this Science, it will become the law of Life to man, — even the higher law of Soul, which prevails over material sense through harmony and immortality.
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja orar todos os dias: "Venha o Teu reino"; que o reinado da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor divinos se estabeleça em mim e expulse de mim todo pecado; e que a Tua Palavra enriqueça os afetos de toda a humanidade e os governe! — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 4
Nem a animosidade nem o mero apego pessoal devem impelir os motivos ou atos dos membros da Igreja Mãe. Na Ciência, somente o Amor divino governa o homem; e um Cientista Cristão reflete as doces comodidades do Amor, repreendendo o pecado, na verdadeira fraternidade, caridade e perdão. Os membros desta Igreja devem vigiar e orar diariamente para serem libertos de todo mal, de profetizar, julgar, condenar, aconselhar, influenciar ou serem influenciados erroneamente. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 1
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja defender-se diariamente contra a sugestão mental agressiva, e não ser levado a esquecer ou negligenciar seu dever para com Deus, seu líder e a humanidade. Por suas obras, ele será julgado — e justificado ou condenado. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 6.
