1. Eu, portanto, prisioneiro do Senhor, rogo-vos que vivais de maneira digna da vocação com que fostes chamados,
2. Com toda a humildade e mansidão, com conformidade, suportando-vos uns aos outros em amor;
3. Esforçando-se para preservar a unidade do Espírito no vínculo da paz.
13. Até que todos cheguemos à unidade da fé e ao conhecimento do Filho de Deus, à maturidade, à medida da plenitude de Cristo.
22. Que, quanto ao trato passado, vos despojeis do velho homem, que se corrompe segundo as cobiças do engano;
23. E sejam renovados no espírito da sua mente;
24. E que vos revistais do novo homem, que segundo Deus é criado na verdadeira justiça e santidade.
14. Por isso Ele diz: Desperta, tu que dormes, e levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo te iluminará.

29 Meu Pai, que me as deu, é maior do que todos; e ninguém pode arrebatá-las da mão de meu Pai.
10 I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
1 Ora, havia um certo homem enfermo, chamado Lázaro, de Betânia, da aldeia de Maria e de sua irmã Marta.
3 Então suas irmãs mandaram dizer-lhe: Senhor, eis que está doente aquele a quem amas.
4 Ao ouvir isso, Jesus disse: "Esta enfermidade não é para a morte, mas para a glória de Deus, para que o Filho de Deus seja glorificado por meio dela."
6 Quando ouviu que ele estava doente, permaneceu dois dias no mesmo lugar onde estava.
7 Depois disso, disse aos seus discípulos: Vamos voltar para a Judeia.
11 Nosso amigo Lázaro dorme; mas Eu vou, para que Eu possa despertá-lo do sono.
12 Então disseram os seus discípulos: Senhor, se dorme, ele ficará bem.
13 Jesus, porém, falava da sua morte; eles, contudo, pensavam que ele se referia ao repouso do sono.
14 Então Jesus lhes disse claramente: Lázaro está morto.
15 E estou contente por causa de vós, de que eu não estivesse ali, para que acrediteis; no entanto, vamos até ele.
20 Então Marta, assim que ouviu que Jesus estava chegando, foi ao seu encontro; Maria, porém, ficou sentada em casa.
21 Então Marta disse a Jesus: Senhor, se o Senhor estivesse aqui, meu irmão não teria morrido.
22 Mas eu sei que, mesmo agora, tudo o que você pedir a Deus, Deus lhe dará.
23 Disse-lhe Jesus: Teu irmão há de ressuscitar.
24 Disse-lhe Marta: Eu sei que ele há de ressuscitar na ressurreição, no último dia.
25 Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu sou a ressurreição e a vida; quem crê em mim, ainda que esteja morto, viverá;
26 E todo aquele que vive e crê em mim jamais morrerá.
34 Onde o pusestes? Disseram-lhe eles: Senhor, vem e vê.
38 Jesus, pois, comovido em si mesmo, foi para o sepulcro. Era uma caverna, e uma pedra estava colocada sobre ela.
39 Disse Jesus: Tirai a pedra. Marta, irmã daquele que estava morto, disse-lhe: Senhor, a essa altura ele cheira mal, porque ele está morto há quatro dias.
40 Disse-lhe Jesus: Não te disse Eu que, se creres, verás a glória de Deus?
41 Então, eles tiraram a pedra do lugar onde jazia o morto. E Jesus, levantando seus olhos, disse: Pai, eu te agradeço, por me haveres ouvido.
42 Eu sei que sempre me ouves, mas por causa da multidão que está ao redor eu disse isso, para que possam crer que tu me enviaste.
43 E, tendo dito isso, clamou em alta voz: Lázaro, vem para fora!
44 E saiu o que estivera morto, amarrado nos pés e nas mãos com faixas; e a sua face envolta em um lenço. Disse-lhes Jesus: Desataio, e deixai-o ir.
1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judæa again.
11 Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
34 Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
1 Essas palavras Jesus falou, e levantou seus olhos ao céu, e disse: Pai, é chegada a hora; glorifica a teu Filho, para que também o Teu Filho te glorifique;.
2 Assim como lhe deste poder sobre toda a carne, para que Ele dê a vida eterna a todos quantos Tu lhes destes.
3 E a vida eterna é esta: que Te conheçam a Ti, o único Deus verdadeiro, e a Jesus Cristo, a quem enviaste.
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
24 Em verdade, em verdade Eu vos digo: Quem ouve a minha palavra, e crê nAquele que me enviou, tem a vida eterna, e não entrará em condenação, mas já passou da morte para a vida.
25 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo que vem a hora, e já chegou, em que os mortos ouvirão a voz do Filho de Deus, e os que a ouvirem viverão.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
11 …agora está na hora de despertarmos do sono, pois a nossa salvação está agora mais perto do que acreditamos.
11 …now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
26 O último inimigo a ser destruído é a morte.
51 Eis que eu vos digo um mistério: nem todos dormiremos, mas todos seremos transformados,
52 Num instante, num abrir e fechar de olhos, ao soar da última trombeta; pois a trombeta soará, os mortos ressuscitarão incorruptíveis e nós seremos transformados.
53 Pois é necessário que este corruptível deva revestir-se da incorrupção, e este mortal deve revestir-se da imortalidade.
54 Assim, quando este corruptível se revestir da incorrupção, e este mortal se revestir da imortalidade, então se cumprirá a palavra que está escrita: A morte será engolida pela vitória.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
3 Bendito seja o Deus e pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que, segundo a sua abundante misericórdia, nos gerou de novo para uma viva esperança, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo dentre os mortos.
4 Para uma herança incorruptível, e imaculada, e que não se desvanece, reservada no céu para vós,
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
A vida é eterna. Devemos descobrir isso e começar a demonstrá-lo. A vida e a bondade são imortais. Que possamos, então, moldar nossa visão da existência em beleza, frescor e continuidade, em vez de velhice e decadência.
Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight.
Jesus disse sobre Lázaro: "Nosso amigo Lázaro dorme; mas vou despertá-lo do sono". Jesus restaurou Lázaro compreendendo que Lázaro nunca havia morrido, não admitindo que seu corpo havia morrido e depois ressuscitado. Se Jesus tivesse acreditado que Lázaro havia vivido ou morrido em seu corpo, o Mestre estaria no mesmo nível de crença daqueles que sepultaram o corpo, e não poderia tê-lo ressuscitado.
Jesus said of Lazarus: "Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." Jesus restored Lazarus by the understanding that Lazarus had never died, not by an admission that his body had died and then lived again. Had Jesus believed that Lazarus had lived or died in his body, the Master would have stood on the same plane of belief as those who buried the body, and he could not have resuscitated it.
A morte é apenas mais uma fase do sonho de que a existência possa ser material. Nada pode interferir na harmonia do ser nem pôr fim à existência do homem na Ciência. O homem é o mesmo depois de um osso ser quebrado ou o corpo guilhotinado. Se o homem jamais pudesse vencer a morte, por que as Escrituras dizem: "O último inimigo a ser destruído é a morte"?
O sonho da morte deve ser dominado pela Mente, aqui ou na vida após a morte. O Pensamento despertará de sua própria declaração material, "Estou morto", para captar esta mensagem da Verdade: "Não existe morte, inação, ação doentia, excesso de ação, nem reação."
A vida é real, e a morte é uma ilusão. Uma demonstração dos fatos da Alma à maneira com que Jesus resolve as visões obscuras dos sentidos materiais, transformando-as em harmonia e imortalidade. O privilégio do homem neste momento supremo é provar as palavras do nosso Mestre: "Se alguém guardar a minha palavra, jamais verá a morte". Despojar o pensamento de falsas expectativas e evidências materiais para que os fatos espirituais do ser se manifestem — esta é a grande conquista por meio da qual varreremos o falso e daremos lugar ao verdadeiro. Assim, poderemos estabelecer em verdade o templo, ou corpo, "cujo construtor e criador é Deus".
Death is but another phase of the dream that existence can be material. Nothing can interfere with the harmony of being nor end the existence of man in Science. Man is the same after as before a bone is broken or the body guillotined. If man is never to overcome death, why do the Scriptures say, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death"?
The dream of death must be mastered by Mind here or hereafter. Thought will waken from its own material declaration, "I am dead," to catch this trumpet-word of Truth, "There is no death, no inaction, diseased action, overaction, nor reaction."
Life is real, and death is the illusion. A demonstration of the facts of Soul in Jesus' way resolves the dark visions of material sense into harmony and immortality. Man's privilege at this supreme moment is to prove the words of our Master: "If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death." To divest thought of false trusts and material evidences in order that the spiritual facts of being may appear, — this is the great attainment by means of which we shall sweep away the false and give place to the true. Thus we may establish in truth the temple, or body, "whose builder and maker is God."
A condição física inalterada de Jesus após o que parecia ser a morte foi seguida por sua exaltação acima de todas as condições materiais; e essa exaltação explicou sua ascensão e revelou inequivocamente um estado probatório e progressivo além da sepultura.
Jesus' unchanged physical condition after what seemed to be death was followed by his exaltation above all material conditions; and this exaltation explained his ascension, and revealed unmistakably a probationary and progressive state beyond the grave.
Ele deveria provar que Cristo não está sujeito às condições materiais, mas está acima do alcance da ira humana e é capaz, por meio da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor, de triunfar sobre o pecado, a doença, a morte e o túmulo.
He was to prove that the Christ is not subject to material conditions, but is above the reach of human wrath, and is able, through Truth, Life, and Love, to triumph over sin, sickness, death, and the grave.
Não temos o direito de dizer que a vida depende da matéria agora, mas que não dependerá dela após a morte. Não podemos passar nossos dias aqui na ignorância da Ciência da Vida e esperar encontrar, além do túmulo, uma recompensa por essa ignorância. A morte não nos tornará harmoniosos e imortais como compensação pela ignorância. Se aqui não dermos atenção à Ciência Cristã, que é espiritual e eterna, não estaremos preparados para a Vida espiritual na outra vida.
We have no right to say that life depends on matter now, but will not depend on it after death. We cannot spend our days here in ignorance of the Science of Life, and expect to find beyond the grave a reward for this ignorance. Death will not make us harmonious and immortal as a recompense for ignorance. If here we give no heed to Christian Science, which is spiritual and eternal, we shall not be ready for spiritual Life hereafter.
Se o princípio, a regra e a demonstração do ser humano não forem minimamente compreendidos antes que a morte alcance os mortais, eles não ascenderão espiritualmente na escala da existência por conta dessa única experiência, mas permanecerão tão materiais quanto antes da transição, ainda buscando a felicidade através de um sentido material da vida, em vez de um sentido espiritual, e movidos por motivos egoístas e inferiores.
Se a mudança chamada morte destruísse a crença no pecado, na doença e na morte, a felicidade seria conquistada no momento da dissolução e seria permanente para sempre; mas não é assim. A perfeição só é alcançada pela perfeição. Os injustos permanecerão injustos até que, na Ciência divina, Cristo, a Verdade, remova toda a ignorância e o pecado.
O pecado e o erro que nos possuem no instante da morte não cessam nesse momento, mas perduram até a morte desses erros.
If the Principle, rule, and demonstration of man's being are not in the least understood before what is termed death overtakes mortals, they will rise no higher spiritually in the scale of existence on account of that single experience, but will remain as material as before the transition, still seeking happiness through a material, instead of through a spiritual sense of life, and from selfish and inferior motives.
If the change called death destroyed the belief in sin, sickness, and death, happiness would be won at the moment of dissolution, and be forever permanent; but this is not so. Perfection is gained only by perfection. They who are unrighteous shall be unrighteous still, until in divine Science Christ, Truth, removes all ignorance and sin.
The sin and error which possess us at the instant of death do not cease at that moment, but endure until the death of these errors.
A salvação universal repousa na progressão e na provação, e é inatingível sem elas.
Universal salvation rests on progression and probation, and is unattainable without them.
O progresso nasce da experiência. É o amadurecimento do homem mortal, através do qual o mortal se desprende e se torna imortal. Seja aqui ou na vida após a morte, o sofrimento ou a Ciência devem destruir todas as ilusões concernentes à vida e à mente, e regenerar os sentidos materiais e o eu. O velho homem, com seus atos, deve ser deixado para trás. Nada sensual ou pecaminoso é imortal. A morte de um falso sentido material e do pecado, e não a morte da matéria orgânica, é o que revela o homem e a Vida, harmoniosos, reais e eternos.
Progress is born of experience. It is the ripening of mortal man, through which the mortal is dropped for the immortal. Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self. The old man with his deeds must be put off. Nothing sensual or sinful is immortal. The death of a false material sense and of sin, not the death of organic matter, is what reveals man and Life, harmonious, real, and eternal.
Quando o Ser for compreendido, a Vida será reconhecida; como não sendo nem material nem finita, mas infinita — como Deus, o bem universal; e a crença de que a Vida, ou a Mente, jamais esteve em uma forma finita, ou o bem no mal, será destruída.
Então se compreenderá que o Espírito jamais penetrou na matéria e, portanto, jamais se elevou da matéria. Ao ascender ao Ser espiritual e à compreensão de Deus, o homem não poderá mais comungar com a matéria; tampouco poderá retornar a ela, assim como uma árvore não pode retornar à sua semente. O homem também não parecerá mais corpóreo, mas será uma consciência individual, caracterizada pelo Espírito divino como ideia, não como matéria.
Este estado de existência é científico e íntegro — uma perfeição discernível apenas por aqueles que possuem a compreensão final de Cristo na Ciência divina. A morte jamais poderá apressar este estado de existência, pois a morte deve ser superada, não submetida, antes que a imortalidade se manifeste.
When being is understood, Life will be recognized as neither material nor finite, but as infinite, — as God, universal good; and the belief that life, or mind, was ever in a finite form, or good in evil, will be destroyed. Then it will be understood that Spirit never entered matter and was therefore never raised from matter. When advanced to spiritual being and the understanding of God, man can no longer commune with matter; neither can he return to it, any more than a tree can return to its seed. Neither will man seem to be corporeal, but he will be an individual consciousness, characterized by the divine Spirit as idea, not matter.
This state of existence is scientific and intact, — a perfection discernible only by those who have the final understanding of Christ in divine Science. Death can never hasten this state of existence, for death must be overcome, not submitted to, before immortality appears.
Durante as eras sensuais, a Ciência Cristã absoluta pode não ser alcançada antes da mudança chamada morte, pois não temos o poder de demonstrar o que não compreendemos.
Mas o ser humano precisa ser evangelizado. Deus nos pede que aceitemos essa tarefa com amor hoje, abandonando o mais rápido possível o material e nos dedicando ao espiritual, que determina o exterior e o atual.
During the sensual ages, absolute Christian Science may not be achieved prior to the change called death, for we have not the power to demonstrate what we do not understand. But the human self must be evangelized. This task God demands us to accept lovingly to-day, and to abandon so fast as practical the material, and to work out the spiritual which determines the outward and actual.
Assim, o progresso finalmente destruirá todo o erro e trará a imortalidade à luz.
Thus progress will finally destroy all error, and bring immortality to light.
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja orar todos os dias: "Venha o Teu reino"; que o reinado da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor divinos se estabeleça em mim e expulse de mim todo pecado; e que a Tua Palavra enriqueça os afetos de toda a humanidade e os governe! — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 4
Nem a animosidade nem o mero apego pessoal devem impelir os motivos ou atos dos membros da Igreja Mãe. Na Ciência, somente o Amor divino governa o homem; e um Cientista Cristão reflete as doces comodidades do Amor, repreendendo o pecado, na verdadeira fraternidade, caridade e perdão. Os membros desta Igreja devem vigiar e orar diariamente para serem libertos de todo mal, de profetizar, julgar, condenar, aconselhar, influenciar ou serem influenciados erroneamente. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 1
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja defender-se diariamente contra a sugestão mental agressiva, e não ser levado a esquecer ou negligenciar seu dever para com Deus, seu líder e a humanidade. Por suas obras, ele será julgado — e justificado ou condenado. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 6.
