Se um Cientista Cristão se deparar com o que pode ser chamado de doença hereditária, como ele deve pensar? De uma forma como esta: O homem, tal como Deus o criou, é inteiramente bom e não teme a doença ou o mal em qualquer forma. Ele é derivado de Deus: toda a sua vida e, portanto, é naturalmente semelhante a Deus.

A alegação do mal, de que ele, o mal, é a mente e a vida, a causa e a condição do homem, é falsa. A matéria nunca criou o homem e nunca poderá desfazer o homem, pois ele coexiste com Deus. A afirmação do mal de que pode impor doenças ao homem através da crença na hereditariedade humana não tem sanção, justiça ou direito divino e, portanto, não pode se sustentar. Visto que Deus, a Mente cria e constitui o homem, e não a matéria; o homem herda de Deus o bem. Disse João: “Agora somos filhos de Deus” (1 João 3:2). E Paulo escreveu aos Romanos: “Somos filhos de Deus; e, se filhos, somos também herdeiros; herdeiros de Deus e co-herdeiros com Cristo” (Romanos 8:16-17). Essa herança traz ao homem saúde, felicidade e bem-estar permanentes. Através da compreensão desses fatos do ser espiritual, as investidas do mal são obrigadas a ceder e a se dissipar, e a condição corporal torna-se saudável e indolor.

Isaías escreveu: “Quando o inimigo vier como uma inundação, o Espírito do Senhor levantará contra ele um estandarte” (Isaías 59:19). Em outras palavras, quando sugestões malignas de doença, desânimo e pecado tentarem inundar nossa consciência, o Espírito ou Mente, que é Deus, se apenas nos abrirmos a porta de nossos pensamentos para Ele, Este preencherá nossa consciência com a percepção da verdadeira vida que Deus designou. No Apocalipse, João descreve o grande dragão sendo expulso “pela palavra do testemunho deles”. A Ciência Cristã demonstra que isso significa que o dragão do mal é expulso quando permitimos que nossa consciência dê testemunho constante dos fatos de Deus e de Sua criação.

Às vezes, a mente maligna argumenta que estamos fora de lugar ou que não conseguimos encontrar o nosso lugar. O estudante da Ciência Cristã superaria tal argumento voltando-se, em pensamento, imediatamente sabe que Deus estabeleceu a ordem. Nessa ordem de Sabedoria e Amor, cada indivíduo tem o seu lugar e a sua função. O Amor provê igualmente para todos. Nenhuma criatura pode estar em lugar errado, deslocada ou sem seu lugar. O medo, o egoísmo e o pecado não podem ser usados pelo erro para esconder do homem a ordem que Deus ordenou. Nenhuma criatura pode suplantar outra, pois todas são criadas por Deus e devem encontrar e ocupar o lugar que a Sua sabedoria designou. Nisso reside a felicidade e o sucesso. Não se trata de onde nós queremos estar, mas sim de onde Deus quer que estejamos. Quando nossa motivação é altruísta, Deus agirá por meio de nós para nos guiar pelo caminho da sabedoria. “Os seus caminhos são caminhos de delícias, e todas as suas veredas são paz.” (Provérbios 3:17).

Creio que você verá que a prática da Ciência Cristã nada mais é do que substituir, no pensa-mento, a concepção maligna e errônea da vida pelos fatos verdadeiros e harmoniosos da vida designada por Deus. O método É simples, mas requer coragem, honestidade e perseverança.

A recompensa é grande, pois o mundo não conhece alegria comparável à alegria altruísta do pecado vencido, da doença curada, dos fardos aliviados, por meio da compreensão de Deus. Overcoming Evil – 9º segment

If a Christian Scientist is confronted with what may be called an inherited disease how shall he think? In some such way as this. Man as God has made him is altogether good and has no fear of sickness or evil in any form. He derives his entire life from God and is therefore naturally God-like. The claim of evil, that it is mind and life, the cause and condition of man, is false. Matter has never made man and can never unmake him, for he is co-existent with God. Evil’s assertion that it can impose sickness on man through the belief of human heredity is without divine sanction, justice, or right and cannot stand. Since God, Mind, not matter, makes and constitutes man, man inherits from God, good. Said John, “Now are we the sons of God.” (1 John, 3. 2). And Paul wrote to the Romans, “We are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.” (Romans 8, 16-17). This inheritance brings to man permanent health, happiness and well-being. Through the realization of these facts of spiritual being, the claims of evil are compelled to yield and give way, and the bodily condition becomes healthy and painless.

Isaiah has written, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” (Isa. 59, 19). In other words when evil suggestions of sickness, discouragement, sin try to flood our consciousness the Spirit or Mind which is God, will, if we but open the door of our thought to Him, fill our consciousness with a sense of the true life which God has appointed. In Revelation John depicts the great dragon as cast out “by the word of their testimony.” Christian Science shows this to mean that the dragon of evil is cast out by letting our consciousness bear constant testimony to the facts of God and His creation.

Sometimes the evil mind argues to us that we are out of place or that we cannot find our place. The student of Christian Science would overcome such an argument by turning, in thought, at once to the order which he knows God has appointed. In this order of wisdom and love each individual has his place and his part. Love provides equally for all. No creature can be misplaced, displaced, or unplaced. Fear, selfishness, and sin cannot be used by error to hide from man the order which God has ordained. No creature can crowd out any other creature for each and all are made by God and must see and fill the place which His wisdom has appointed. Therein is happiness and success. It is not a question of where we would be, it is a question of where God would have us to be. When our motive is unselfish God will work through us to direct us in wisdom’s pathway. “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” (Proverbs 3, 17).

You will see, I think, that the practice of Christian Science is but the displacing in thought of the evil and erroneous sense of life with the true and harmonious facts of the God-appointed sense of life. It is simple in method, but it requires courage, honesty and perseverance. The reward is great for the world knows no joy comparable with the unselfish joy of sin conquered, sickness healed, burdens lifted, through the understanding of God.
