SERMÃO DA LIÇÃO
7 Filhinhos, não deixem que ninguém os engane. Aquele que pratica a justiça é justo, assim como ele é justo.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
3 E Salomão amava ao Senhor, andando nos estatutos de Davi, seu pai.
5 Em Gibeão, o Senhor apareceu a Salomão em sonhos de noite, e disse Deus: Pede o que queres que eu te dê.
6 Então disse Salomão: Tu usaste de grande misericórdia para com teu servo Davi, meu pai, pois ele andou diante de ti em verdade, em justiça e em retidão de coração para contigo; e guardaste-lhe esta grande beneficência, dando-lhe um filho para se assentar no seu trono, como hoje se vê.
7 E agora, Senhor meu Deus, fizeste reinar a teu servo em lugar de Davi, meu pai; e eu sou apenas uma criança.
9 Dá, pois, ao teu servo um coração compreensivo…
11 E Deus lhe disse: Porque pediste isto, e não pediste para ti longa vida, nem pediste para ti riquezas, nem pediste para ti a morte dos teus inimigos, mas pediste para ti entendimento para discernir o que é justo;
12 Eis que fiz segundo as tuas palavras; eis que te dei um coração sábio e entendido;
3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father:
5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child:
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart …
11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart;
13 Melhor é um menino pobre e sábio do que um rei velho e insensato, que não mais se deixa admoestar.
13 Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.
23 E Jesus andava no templo, no pórtico de Salomão.
24 Então os judeus o rodearam e lhe perguntaram: Até quando nos farás duvidar? Se tu és o Cristo, dize-no-lo abertamente.
25 Jesus respondeu-lhes: Eu vos disse, e não crestes; as obras que eu faço na casa de meu Pai nome, eles dão testemunho de mim.
26 Mas vocês não creem, porque não são das minhas ovelhas, como eu disse a vocês.
27 As minhas ovelhas ouvem a minha voz, e eu as conheço, e elas me seguem:
28 E eu lhes dou a vida eterna, e elas nunca perecerão, e ninguém as arrebatará da minha mão.
29 Meu Pai, que mas deu, é maior do que todos; e ninguém pode arrebatá-las da mão de meu Pai.
30 Eu e meu Pai somos um.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
2 E Jesus, chamando uma criança, colocou-a no meio deles,
3 E disse: Em verdade vos digo que, se não vos converterdes e não vos fizerdes como crianças, de modo algum entrareis no reino dos céus.
4 Portanto, qualquer que se tornar humilde como esta criança, esse é o maior no reino dos céus.
5 E qualquer que receber uma destas crianças em meu nome, a mim me recebe.
6 Mas qualquer que escandalizar um destes pequeninos, que crêem em mim, melhor lhe fora que se lhe pendurasse ao pescoço uma mó de azenha, e se submergisse na profundeza do mar.
10 Tomai cuidado para não desprezardes nenhum destes pequeninos; porque eu vos digo que nos céus seus anjos sempre contemplam a face de meu Pai que está nos céus.
11 Porque o Filho do Homem veio salvar o que se havia perdido.
12 Que vos parece? Se um homem tiver cem ovelhas, e uma delas se extraviar, não deixará as noventa e nove, e irá aos montes em busca da que se extraviou?
13 E se assim for, em verdade vos digo que ele se alegra mais com aquela ovelha do que com aquela os noventa e nove que não se extraviaram.
14 Assim também não é da vontade de vosso Pai, que está nos céus, que um destes pequeninos deveria perecer.
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
14 Disse Jesus: Deixai as crianças e não as impeçais de virem a mim, porque dos tais é o reino dos céus.
14 Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
6 Ensina a criança no caminho em que deve andar, e até quando envelhecer não se desviará dele.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
4 Pois toda criatura de Deus é boa, e nada deve ser rejeitado, se for recebido com ações de graças:
5 Pois é santificada pela palavra de Deus e pela oração.
6 Se fizeres lembrar estas coisas aos irmãos, serás bom ministro de Jesus Cristo, criado nas palavras da fé e da boa doutrina que alcançaste.
10 Pois é por isso que trabalhamos e sofremos injúria, porque confiamos no Deus vivo, que
é o Salvador de todos os homens, especialmente daqueles que creem.
11 Essas coisas comandam e ensinam.
12 Ninguém despreze a tua mocidade; mas sê o exemplo dos fiéis, na palavra, no espírito.
conversação, na caridade, no espírito, na fé, na pureza.
13 Até que eu venha, aplica-te à leitura, à exortação e ao ensino.
14 Não negligencie o dom que está em ti,
15 Medite sobre essas coisas; dedique-se inteiramente a elas; para que seu proveito seja manifesto a todos.
16 Tem cuidado de ti mesmo e da doutrina; persiste nelas; porque, fazendo isto, salvarás tanto a ti mesmo como aos que te ouvem.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee,
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
5 Ora, o Deus da paciência e da consolação vos conceda o mesmo sentimento uns para com os outros, segundo Cristo Jesus.
6 Para que concordemente e a uma boca glorifiqueis a Deus e Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
7 Portanto, acolhei-vos uns aos outros, como também Cristo nos acolheu para glória de Deus.
5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
Jesus de Nazaré ensinou e demonstrou a unidade do homem com o Pai, e por isso lhe devemos infinita homenagem. Sua missão era tanto individual quanto coletiva. Ele realizou corretamente a obra da vida, não apenas em justiça para consigo mesmo, mas em misericórdia para com os mortais — para mostrar-lhes como fazer a sua, mas não para fazê-la por eles, nem para isentá-los de qualquer responsabilidade.
Jesus of Nazareth taught and demonstrated man's oneness with the Father, and for this we owe him endless homage. His mission was both individual and collective. He did life's work aright not only in justice to himself, but in mercy to mortals, — to show them how to do theirs, but not to do it for them nor to relieve them of a single responsibility.
Jesus era altruísta.
Jesus was unselfish.
Desde a infância ele se dedicava aos "negócios do pai".
O "homem de dores" compreendeu melhor a nulidade da vida material e da inteligência, e a poderosa realidade de Deus todo-inclusivo, o bem. Esses eram os dois pontos cardeais da cura pela Mente, ou Ciência Cristã, que o muniam de Amor. O mais alto representante terreno de Deus, falando da capacidade humana de refletir o poder divino, disse profeticamente aos seus discípulos, falando não apenas para a época deles, mas para todos os tempos: "Aquele que crê em mim também fará as obras que eu faço"; e "Estes sinais seguirão aos que crerem".
From early boyhood he was about his "Father's business."
The "man of sorrows" best understood the nothingness of material life and intelligence and the mighty actuality of all-inclusive God, good. These were the two cardinal points of Mind-healing, or Christian Science, which armed him with Love. The highest earthly representative of God, speaking of human ability to reflect divine power, prophetically said to his disciples, speaking not for their day only but for all time: "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also;" and "These signs shall follow them that believe."
Através da magnitude de sua vida humana, ele demonstrou a Vida divina. Da amplitude de sua afeição pura, ele definiu o Amor. Com a abundância da Verdade, ele venceu o erro. O mundo não reconheceu sua retidão, sem vê-la; mas a terra recebeu a harmonia que seu exemplo glorificado introduziu.
Quem está pronto para seguir seus ensinamentos e exemplo? Todos devem, mais cedo ou mais tarde, firmar-se em Cristo, a verdadeira ideia de Deus.
Through the magnitude of his human life, he demonstrated the divine Life. Out of the amplitude of his pure affection, he defined Love. With the affluence of Truth, he vanquished error. The world acknowledged not his righteousness, seeing it not; but earth received the harmony his glorified example introduced.
Who is ready to follow his teaching and example? All must sooner or later plant themselves in Christ, the true idea of God.
Na Ciência, o homem é filho do Espírito. O belo, o bom e o puro constituem sua ancestralidade. Sua origem não está, como a dos mortais, no instinto bruto, nem ele passa por condições materiais antes de atingir a inteligência. O Espírito é sua fonte primitiva e última de ser; Deus é seu Pai, e a Vida é a lei de seu ser.
In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being.
Não é sensato duvidar se a realidade está em perfeita harmonia com Deus, o Princípio divino — se a Ciência, quando compreendida e demonstrada, destruirá toda discórdia — já que você admite que Deus é onipotente; pois dessa premissa segue-se que o bem e suas doces concórdias têm todo o poder.
A Ciência Cristã, devidamente compreendida, desiludiria a mente humana das crenças materiais que guerreiam contra os fatos espirituais; e essas crenças materiais devem ser negadas e rejeitadas para dar lugar à verdade. Não se pode acrescentar nada ao conteúdo de um vaso já cheio. Trabalhando arduamente para abalar a fé do adulto na matéria e inculcar um grão de fé em Deus — um vislumbre da capacidade do Espírito de harmonizar o corpo —, o autor frequentemente se lembrou do amor de nosso Mestre pelas crianças pequenas e compreendeu quão verdadeiramente tais pessoas pertencem ao reino celestial.
It is unwise to doubt if reality is in perfect harmony with God, divine Principle, — if Science, when understood and demonstrated, will destroy all discord, — since you admit that God is omnipotent; for from this premise it follows that good and its sweet concords have all-power.
Christian Science, properly understood, would disabuse the human mind of material beliefs which war against spiritual facts; and these material beliefs must be denied and cast out to make place for truth. You cannot add to the contents of a vessel already full. Laboring long to shake the adult's faith in matter and to inculcate a grain of faith in God, — an inkling of the ability of Spirit to make the body harmonious, — the author has often remembered our Master's love for little children, and understood how truly such as they belong to the heavenly kingdom.
Os pais devem ensinar aos filhos, o mais cedo possível, as verdades da saúde e da santidade. As crianças são mais dóceis que os adultos e aprendem mais facilmente a amar as verdades simples que as farão felizes e boas.
Jesus amava as crianças por sua liberdade em relação ao erro e sua receptividade ao certo. Enquanto a idade as faz hesitar entre duas opiniões ou lutar contra falsas crenças, a juventude caminha fácil e rapidamente em direção à Verdade.
Uma garotinha, que ocasionalmente ouvia minhas explicações, machucou gravemente o dedo. Ela pareceu não notar. Ao ser questionada sobre o assunto, respondeu ingenuamente: "Não há sensação na matéria". Saindo correndo com os olhos risonhos, acrescentou: "Mamãe, meu dedo não está nem um pouco dolorido."
Parents should teach their children at the earliest possible period the truths of health and holiness. Children are more tractable than adults, and learn more readily to love the simple verities that will make them happy and good.
Jesus loved little children because of their freedom from wrong and their receptiveness of right. While age is halting between two opinions or battling with false beliefs, youth makes easy and rapid strides towards Truth.
A little girl, who had occasionally listened to my explanations, badly wounded her finger. She seemed not to notice it. On being questioned about it she answered ingenuously, "There is no sensation in matter." Bounding off with laughing eyes, she presently added, "Mamma, my finger is not a bit sore."
As experiências agudas da crença na vida suposta da matéria, bem como a nossa Decepções e incessantes aflições nos levam, como crianças cansadas, aos braços do Amor divino. Então, começamos a aprender a Vida na Ciência divina. Sem esse processo de desmame, "Podes tu, buscando, encontrar Deus?" É mais fácil desejar a Verdade do que livrar-se do erro. Os mortais podem buscar a compreensão da Ciência Cristã, mas não serão capazes de colher da Ciência Cristã os fatos do ser sem lutar por eles. Essa luta consiste no esforço de abandonar o erro de toda espécie e de não possuir outra consciência senão a do bem.
Por meio dos castigos salutares do Amor, somos ajudados a avançar na marcha em direção à retidão, à paz e à pureza, que são os marcos da Ciência.
The sharp experiences of belief in the supposititious life of matter, as well as our disappointments and ceaseless woes, turn us like tired children to the arms of divine Love. Then we begin to learn Life in divine Science. Without this process of weaning, "Canst thou by searching find out God?" It is easier to desire Truth than to rid one's self of error. Mortals may seek the understanding of Christian Science, but they will not be able to glean from Christian Science the facts of being without striving for them. This strife consists in the endeavor to forsake error of every kind and to possess no other consciousness but good.
Through the wholesome chastisements of Love, we are helped onward in the march towards righteousness, peace, and purity, which are the landmarks of Science.
Na Ciência divina, o homem é a verdadeira imagem de Deus. A natureza divina foi melhor expressa em Cristo Jesus, que lançou sobre os mortais o reflexo mais verdadeiro de Deus e elevou suas vidas mais alto do que seus pobres modelos de pensamento permitiriam — pensamentos que apresentavam o homem como caído, doente, pecador e moribundo. A compreensão cristã do ser científico e da cura divina inclui um Princípio e uma ideia perfeitos — Deus perfeito e homem perfeito — como base do pensamento e da demonstração.
In divine Science, man is the true image of God. The divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus, who threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted their lives higher than their poor thought-models would allow, — thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick, sinning, and dying. The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea, — perfect God and perfect man, — as the basis of thought and demonstration.
Quando os professos seguidores de Jesus aprenderão a imitá-lo em todos os seus caminhos e a imitar suas obras poderosas?
É possível — sim, é dever e privilégio de cada criança, homem e mulher — seguir em algum grau o exemplo do Mestre pela demonstração da Verdade e da Vida, da saúde e da santidade.
When will Jesus' professed followers learn to emulate him in all his ways and to imitate his mighty works?
It is possible, — yea, it is the duty and privilege of every child, man, and woman, — to follow in some degree the example of the Master by the demonstration of Truth and Life, of health and holiness.
A Ciência Cristã ergue o estandarte da liberdade e clama: "Sigam-me! Fujam da escravidão da doença, do pecado e da morte!" Jesus traçou o caminho. Cidadãos do mundo, aceitem a "gloriosa liberdade dos filhos de Deus" e sejam livres! Este é o seu direito divino.
Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and cries: "Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sickness, sin, and death!" Jesus marked out the way. Citizens of the world, accept the "glorious liberty of the children of God," and be free! This is your divine right.
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja orar todos os dias: "Venha o Teu reino"; que o reinado da Verdade, da Vida e do Amor divinos se estabeleça em mim e expulse de mim todo pecado; e que a Tua Palavra enriqueça os afetos de toda a humanidade e os governe! — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 4
Nem a animosidade nem o mero apego pessoal devem impelir os motivos ou atos dos membros da Igreja Mãe. Na Ciência, somente o Amor divino governa o homem; e um Cientista Cristão reflete as doces comodidades do Amor, repreendendo o pecado, na verdadeira fraternidade, caridade e perdão. Os membros desta Igreja devem vigiar e orar diariamente para serem libertos de todo mal, de profetizar, julgar, condenar, aconselhar, influenciar ou serem influenciados erroneamente. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 1
Será dever de cada membro desta Igreja defender-se diariamente contra a sugestão mental agressiva, e não ser levado a esquecer ou negligenciar seu dever para com Deus, seu líder e a humanidade. Por suas obras, ele será julgado — e justificado ou condenado. — Manual da Igreja, Artigo VIII, Seção 6.
